Calling All City Fans !

Just a few days to go before another season of singing our hearts out for the Blue Boys. Who would have believed that our first game of the season would see us up against the full time professionals Llanelli and so soon after that famous Welsh Cup success in May.

In many ways this game is just as important, if not more so, than the Final itself. A win against the full timers would give Neville Powell’s team the confidence to start the campaign with a good run , which is essential if we are to challenge for honours this season. It has been evident so many times in the past that our famous support can inspire the City players, and on many occasions we have become the twelfth man.

It is so important for everyone who holds the Club close to their hearts to come through the turn-styles in their droves this Saturday to support the already successful new regime.

Not many believe that we can attract 1500 BCFC supporters to Farrar Road this Saturday !. I say, Why not ?. We have the 700 die-hards who will definitely be there for the first game, we have the population and we also have the thousands who have been to Farrar Road at one time or other. It’s to those stay away supporters that I plead to come down to Farrar on Saturday in what will be the last time we ever witness a first game of the season at Farrar Road following the planning application for Farrar Road being passed. Come down with your children, have them witness another piece of history being written at this famous Club.

It is sure to be a great day on Saturday whether we win or lose. There will be pre-match entertainment by the City Blues Cheer leaders, We will have the Bangor Samba Band there to entertain the crowds. Following the game there will be entertainment in the Regency Hotel by local Reggae Sound System -  The Tribulation Rockers.

BCFCSA Member Claire Moss will be doing a sponsored silence at Farrar Road on Saturday from 09:00 to Kick Off to help raise funds towards the fine imposed upon the Club following the pitch invasion at the Welsh Cup Final. She will be going round with a bucket during the game so please give generously. A big thank you to Claire for all her efforts.

So please make that one big special effort now to attend the Llanelli game on Saturday. Spread the word, Bring a Mate and Double the Gate.

Here’s to one big effort and a City win - Keep the faith.

BCFCSA Short’s

Brian Pritchard Charity event

We are pleased to announce that together with Maesglas Sports Centre and Bangor and Anglesey Cancer Research, we are organising a charity Fun Day.
As well as the Adult Sevens, there will be coaching sessions for children, a fun aerobics event, soccer skills challenge (crossbar challenge, corner flag challenge, penalty shootout), some fund-raining stalls, Tombola, Plant Stall, Cake Stall, Raffle, plus much more. It should be a great day out for all the family, so be there!
If you can help organise the event, help on the day, have items you can donate for the raffle etc, then please let us know

Membership Secretary

As we approach the new season it is time to renew BCFCSA subscriptions and membership forms will soon be sent out to members via email and by post.

Once again the subscription charges remain the same as in previous seasons and supporters can return their forms by post, to one of the SA committee or, if they prefer, forms can be completed on the internet at

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Bangor-City-FC-Club-Shop

Forms will also be available at our game with Llanelli and the SA are working hard to increase the attendance for the opening fixture - a fixture that this season is more important than ever before following the harsh fine imposed upon the club by FAW and the part played by Llanelli.

City have shown that supporters will turn up in large numbers for the big games so lets push to get them to come to our opening game, to join the Supporters Association and increase the membership, increase the funds provided for Nev's squad and the Reserves for 2008-9 and show that we truly have the best support in the league.

Advertising Games

Could you help advertise the games for the Club?. We are looking for shops, pubs, etc where we could display Match Day Posters prior to our home games. If you own a shop or business in Bangor and the surrounding area and are willing to display a poster then please contact me on 07944694801. In return we will display your company name in our Match Day Programme during the season under the headline “Friends of Bangor City (Help Those Who Help Us)!”. Your company name will also be included on our “Friends of Bangor City” page on our website www.bcfcsa.com.
