BASIS SoftExpo begins in city Mar 6

A four-day BASIS SoftExpo 2013 will begin in the capital on March 6.
The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services is going to organise its annual mega exposition at the Bangladesh International Conference Centre, organisers said at a news briefing at BASIS auditorium on Saturday.
The theme for this year SoftExpo is ‘ICT for Business, ICT for Life’. More than 120 exhibitors including software and ITES companies providing business solutions, e-governance solution providers, communication companies and solution providers, portals, IT training institutes/universities and outsourcing companies will take part in this year’s SoftExpo.
Eleven companies from Denmark and Netherlands have confirmed their participation in the expo with local software/IT-enabled services companies.
Moreover, a special ecommerce zone will be created and roundtables, seminars and technical sessions will be held with participation of key decision makers and experts from home and abroad.
A talent search programme for outsourcing freelancers will be held during the SoftExpo. Along with these, IT job fair will also be arranged.
For the first time, BASIS SoftExpo will include ‘Business leaders’ meet’ and ‘corporate hour’ in the expo. Also there will be a ‘Business lounge’ for the purpose.
The expo will remain open at 10:00am and continue till 8:00pm every day.
BASIS SoftExpo 2013 is co-organised by the Ministry of ICT and Access to Information Programme whereas Kaspersky Lab is the gold sponsor, International Business Promotion Council is the co-sponsor and Qubee is the internet partner.
SoftExpo 2013 convener Rusell T Ahmed narrated different aspects of SoftExpo 2013 at the press meet. BASIS acting president Shameem Ahsan and joint general secretary M Rashidul Hasan were present, among others.
Speaking at the programme the information communication technology stakeholders said ICT sector had 56 per 
cent export growth in 2011-12 financial year. The sector exported $100 million during the period, they added.
