What is Digital World 2012

Bangladesh has seen dramatic changes in last few years. ICT is declared as the “Thrust sector” of the country to materialize the concept of “Digital Bangladesh” which is the vision articulated by the present government. “Digital Bangladesh” is a blend of ICT & modern technology along with politicalgoals as a pro-poor tool to eradicate poverty, establish good governance, ensure social equity through quality education, healthcare and law enforcement for all, and prepare the country for climate change. Accordingly, government is ensuring widespread use of ICT tools & mechanism to further modify the livelihood of the citizens, scope of services, standard of living & so on.

An annual practice and knowledge Conference “Digital World 2012” (DW2012) is proposed to showcase Bangladesh’s achievements to further learn from its global peers and to provide a forum for free-flow of ideas and concepts enriching current thoughts on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for development. Digital World 2012, with the inaugural years’ Conference focus on using and leveraging ICTs and modern technology to boost up the economy & it is proposed to be an annual event with the objective of reinforcing technology and knowledge-centric growth and needs of Bangladesh vis-a-vis the world of technology to mainstream ICTs.

Digital World 2012 will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh on December 6-8, 2012. The event will be inaugurated by Matia Chowdhury, Minister of Agriculture of the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh inBangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

The speakers and attendees will include policy-makers, senior government officials, industry leaders, international development agencies, civil society, academia, and investors. And the exhibition will provide excellent opportunity for showcasing projects, programs and initiatives of government and private sector agencies/corporations, as also for demonstrating innovative ICT products, solutions and applications for various domains covered under the scope of the event. The conference as a whole will provide a unique opportunity for national and global stakeholders to come together and exchange ideas and solutions focused on the key element of all technological advancement: the citizen.
