Dear friends,

I am writing from the India Water Portal regarding an opportunity to contribute to policies for the Himalayan States.

I wonder if you know of the Sustainable Mountain Summits organised by the Indian Mountain Initiative. This year, the summit will be held at Kohima in late September(http://www.sdfnagaland.org/smds.html) and India Water Portal is facilitating the 'Water' theme. The topics for discussion are:

Water conflicts,
Water rights and access (including governance and gender issues), Innovations and technologies for mountain water management/conservation,
Policy gaps and opportunities in water conservation and management.

Climate change is a cross-cutting issue since it influences nearly every aspect of resource management.

I would appreciate it if you could send in content in the form of an article (1500-3000 words), study paper, photo essays or videos on this theme. Your experience in this field will be of utmost importance to us. Here is a link to our call for submissions: (http://www.indiawaterportal.org/events/help-influence-water-and-environmental-policy-himalayan-states-mountain-summit-kohima).

Please do write and let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to forward this message to anybody you think would be interested.

Warm regards,
Manu Moudgil
