I just wanted to let everyone know that Flex is now officially an Apache Incubator project

The vote just passed:

If you haven't been tuned in, last month Adobe announced that they won't be maintaining the Flex project any more and has since been working to transfer it to the apache foundation.

Peter Elst's has been covering the events as they unfolded ..

The proposal to apache was just accepted and Flex is now officially a part of the Apache Incubator.

With regards,
Mrinal

Great. Thx for the update :). Does this mean AIR will not be
maintained as well by Adobe ?

The runtimes - both flash player and AIR - will still be maintained and controlled by Adobe.
Only the Flex framework is now an Apache project.

Adobe maintaining control on the runtimes obviously has interesting implications on the future of Flex, it was discussed briefly in the Apache Proposal discussion http://markmail.org/thread/5udhowlggdmjsmd6
