Flex Charting and lisence issue

Hi !!

I am working on an application which uses:

Flex data services
Flex charting


The web application was initially developed on the trial version of
flex builder and it was having “Flex charting Trial” water mark in the
charts While creating the flex project , in the compilation options we
select “Compile the code at the .server when page is viewed”
option .And we are having fds.swc in our project library path.



When we got the licensed version of flex builder with charting enabled
installed on the development machine and set up the developed
application in it, the Flex charting trial water mark still continued
to appear on the charts of the web application .But when I tried to
create a simple flex application the charts did not show “flex
Charting trial” water mark.If we change the compilation option to
“Compile application locally in flex builder” we are getting an error
saying :

1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Session.



When we try to run the application with the error the data is not
populated into the application, but the charts which are visible are
not having the water mark.

We are not able to resolve the issue of the water mark if we select
complie the code in server when the page is viewed and we are not able
to resolve error when we select complie the code locally in flex
builder.Is the error that we are getting because of flex data
services? and what is the actual procedure for getting rid of the
water mark.

Any suggestions or advice in this regard will be of great help.

The place to ask technical questions is Flex India - http://www.flex-india.org .. this list is to organize the local group meetings.

That said .. this seems like a flex builder bug .. try these things ..

1. delete the bin folder/s an rebuild .. this will ensure a clean build.

2. If one doesn't work .. try creating a new project and moving all your source to the new project. 

digging the bug database I did find a few bugs in this are so you may want to get in touch with adobe support https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-12983

yes i hav .There was a single lisence key for the builder which said "
Flex builder with charting".

  I think u have to enter seperate liscense keys for flex builder and for flex charting

Hi,

For Flex Builder 2.0, there is a separate key for charting. For Flex Builder 3.0, the Pro version contains charting and hence only one license key will be there for Flex Builder 3 Pro.

Kashyap, is it that you are using Flex Builder 3.0 to develop and Flex 2 SDK to publish? If that is the case, try entering the key in:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\2.0.1\frameworks\license.properties

Hi Venkat,

I am actually developing a Flex web application on Flex builder 3, but
initailly the code was written in Flex builder 2 trial version.

The actual the problem is that in Flex 2 sdk the charting is
supported by charts.swc and in Flexbuilder 3 sdk by
datavisualization.swc .
So the code runs properly but since my web Apps's WEB-INF\flex\libs
folder has charts.swc when i run the application i get teh watermark.
Replacing the charts.swc by datavisualization.swc gives me an error
while loading the application in the server sayin could not load
datavisualization.swc .

I Donot hav lisensed Flex Builder 2 and Builder 3 tht was purshased
does not seem to work well with flex 2 code.

So looks like m in a fix.

Hmm.. In that case get in touch with Adobe to get the issue resolved. I think they should be able to help you with this!
