Nithya Karma
Dharma Shastra describes *6 Nitya Karmas* or 6 daily duties for a human being which will bring him happiness and prosperity in life.
"Snanam, Sandhya Japo, Homa, Devatanacha poojanam, Aathithyam, Vaisvadevam cha shat (6) karmani dine dine"
☀ Explanation
🌷1. First karma is Snanam or daily bath as we get up for Sharira shuddhi (external body purification).
🌷2. Sandhyavandanam and Gayatri Japa for Internal Shuddhi (internal purification) and spiritual, intellectual development and growth, which is what we will get due to Gayatri Japa.
🌷3. Homa or daily offering ahuti/oblation in fire by means of Aupasanam/Agnihotra.
🌷4. Devata Pooja like Pooja of God's in our Pooja room. Eg : Panchayatana Pooja, Shiva Pooja, Vishnu Pooja as per our house tradition.
🌷5. Aathithyam is feeding guests at home, at least 1 person per day.
🌷6. Vaisvadevam is the act of offering food (havis) for the Gods upto the ant. Part of this we still practice. By putting rice kolam (Rangoli) for ants to consume, rice for crow, food for street dog etc. For feeding each of them there are mantras in Dharma Shastra which we will learn in due course of your journey with Veda Ghosham. In ancient days our ancestors did each of the above each day.
