Hey Guys,

Great.
What should we do for an initial project ?
I'd love to do something that could be a part of the jaaga building
maybe a board with wireless that could have sensors of various kinds
of control LEDs or speakers ... ?

What would be the best board for something like that ?

A format I'd like for the group is to have something of a meetup every
month where we invite someone in to speak, and then have a hack night
every Tuesday where we get together and work on projects.

It would be great to find other people who were interested in this as well.

cheers,

Freeman

Hey Viral,

You know more about various boards and I guess you should suggest as to what board we should work on. It would also be great if you can invite some of your friends who might be interested in open source hardware.

Hi Deepan & Freeman,

Few points:
- I m not able to invite more people, or shall I just give group link
to people I know and them to apply ?
- We can invite people to join by posting in mailing list of few open
hardware project,
such as arduino, beagleboard and hawkboard mailing list with proper
subject line.

Freeman, I think, you should able to use arduino or openPICUS (still
relatively new but bit more powerful) for controlling LED, speaker.

Regarding monthly meeting, I do not know how people will response, as
most people I know are only focused on one project because part of it
is used by their corporate. There few students also who use this
boards, but than I dont have contact with them. I think, making
commitment to have monthly meeting and than not able to conduct may
reduce interest. Thus, I would suggest let's plan for regular meet
once some people joins and provide their opinion. But than, I don't
mind current idea of meeting once a month too.

Regards, Viral

deepan, maybe you could make the 3 of us administrators on the group.

viral, do you know where to source the openPicus or arduino boards
in Bangalore ?

i'd like to do this where we get together on Tuesdays every week
to hack on stuff, and then maybe hang out on the 3rd Saturday of
the month. it would be nice to get more people involved, but its not
really necessary, and this whole thing should be fun and casual.

Hi Freeman,

As per my knowledge,
openPICUS is not avaiable in India.
For Arduino, you can try
http://www.tenettech.com/ They have offer where they are selling board
right now for 1k.
There might be other supplier but I am not aware of them as of date.

On a side note, ESC is ongoing at NIHMAS, check http://www.esc-india.com/
