Resorts/Places in and around bangalore with cycling trips for a family (2 adults + 1 3 yr old)

Hi folks,

I am planning for a short trip to a nearby place to B'lore ( upto 6
hours drive ok) where we could be able to rent cycles as a family and
possibly attached to a resort. I have a 3 year old and want to take
him on a different kind of a vacation..
I'm sure some of the biking lovers here would have been to such a
place..Please let me know your suggestions. We just want to do it
leisurely
and not something strenuous.

there are lovely family holiday places withing 3 to 4 hours form bangalore, in good surrondings for easy walking and and also cycling on small country roads without traffic. but renting cycles, ... that is another thing i have not come across yet. youmust take them along yourself.... i think.
maybe at our native village resort outside hesargahtta they have cycles to rent.

dodballapur and beyond you have green valley resort, good excursions form there also .

try Georgia sunhsine. a perfect family place in perfect surroundings for family cycling, totally relaxed and no steep inclines and still good views. it is off the mallavalli -Kollegal road.only 3 hours form Bangalore. very near the canals to the shimsha hydro power plant. it has got a little pool also.and of course close to kavery river and the falls at shivasamudra.

Is the Shimsha hydro water plant where the big dam on the Cauvery is situated near Malavalli. I need directions to get to the road which leads to the back side of the dam (the other side of the hydro project). I have been trying to find it from other people but no luck. I guess I should have asked you first. Am posting this to the group as well since folks might benefit. How do we get there ? We could cycle there, walk across the embankment and take a dip.

One of my friend starting Bike tours in Sakleshpur, Near hassan which is 230 Kms from Bangalore and a perfect 5 hr drive,

As per his plan He brought Merida bikes and arranging Accommodation is some of the home stays, and organizing bike trips, He can also arrange camping in some pristine locations. As Sakleshpur is a cool place you can do cycling comfortable

I visited the website and it doesn't inspire confidence...the "How It Works" link...doesn't work, it's just a blank page! And there is only one "circute" (sic)...

As a general rule, I am worried  that shoddiness in designing the website may well be reflected in a shoddiness about organization.

So...caveat emptor (buyer beware!)

Even i know harsha, he is born and bought up @ that place only he knows all the placeses very well. Once i had been with him, It was as excellent experience and i wil not forget that trip. 

   He told me that he is going to start this project. I am sure that he will help us in showing excellent placeses in and around western ghats.

He is having contacts with jenukallu and rottikallu resorts. once we had been to jenukallu resort and it was an excellent place and food was awesome.

I was part of the trip organzied by Harsha, He managed to pull off a trip that is on top of my list. 

He did very effortlessly and very well.

I would rate a 10/10 for the prestinepedelling project

As far as the website, it is under construction as i read from the mail.

Deepa we are planning again to go there, and i will invite you to come with us, we will laugh about it all there

Thanks for all the responses Sachin , Anand, Deepa, Georg, Chidu.... I will check out the options ...both basic halli and pristine seem like good options  Planning it next week. I will speak to the parties concerned and decide..
