Success is one metric but usefulness is perhaps better.
A regular, predictable known marketplace is a very useful thing --
even if small.
I mean compared to selling only online, you could announce on BBC that
you're going to be at the Cycle Day Bazaar, so prospective customers
could come by and check out stuff in person. Since there could be many
prospective customers, selling on Cycle Day possibly also means good
prices ;)
Serendipitous finds are also the fun part of bike swap meets -- I
found a dishing gauge and a left-only crank, both of which I had no
idea I needed, but I bought them anyway ;)
It's like the how the early BBCh was not just for racing, but also for
meeting people in person and a chance to ogle some great bikes!
