BBCh 5 ??? - Ideas / Thoughts

Folks,

I'd like to know your view about this idea.

• Cyclothon is on 11th October 2009 and we've heard it will be a 50km mass start road race. I am sure many people would go for that event.
  
  
• In the light of the above, can we have a 50 ~ 60/70km road race in the BBCh 5 on the 20th of Sept?
  
  
• The reason being 
  (a) people have 30+ days to prepare for BBCh5. So, they'd know where they stand and improve their performance and
  (b) once you know how long it takes to complete 50 ~ 60kmph then you still have 2 weeks between BBCh5 and Cyclothon to prepare further and get better timings.

Thoughts / Inputs / brickbats please.

Awesome, I think the whole team thing is catching on! I hope you find a couple more mellow fellows to join you, key would be that they are in your geographical neck of the woods, so you can train together.

We had discussed doing the next event as a TTT, but we should really get teams together first, and a considerable amount of Team Training is required for that as it is very dangerous with the drafting and all.

So looks like we have 

1. Red Rooster Racing

2. KYNKYNY Racing

3. Team BOTS (in incubation)

3. The Halli Boys (they are already having team drama), and

4. Mellow Jhonnies (now hiring)

C'mon folks, keep em coming!

I think A 50/60 km race on the 20th of next month sounds good. Can we make it a little longer? Around 80km?. A TTT would be even better, but like Vivek pointed out, it is dangerous with things like drafting. I guess just riding as a team for the next race would be a positive step.
As for my team, The Halli Boys, I think it stands dissolved. Our manager has decided to defect to the United States (hallelujah!!!)  and his ideas of remote communication only seem to make sense to him. So the whole team, yes the WHOLE team is up for sale. Don't hesitate, send in those offers, we have about a week to really give it to the manager...muhahaha.

the team thingie is a good idea .. but needs a bit more time for training.
But its good to announce it now ..  folks can start forming teams and start training. Maybe we can have a team event 2 races from now. The thing is the event should be fun and possible without a team too right ? and we need to figure out what having a 'team' means in terms of points vis-a-viz the non team guys.

At the same time its good fun to get a team together and push each other during a race. That way you ride as a team and push each other to perform better.

Like Vivek said - getting a team that live close to each other is kinda nice while training. Does not really cut it if you have to travel a lot for training - then its pushed to weekends.

Rider no.1: Avinash Patil. Amazing footballer, tenacious rider. Currently training for Anchetti. Rides a 4300. Always comes to a race just to watch, and ends up doing really really well for a bystander.
Rider no.2: Prashanth Selvaraj. Beaten up and broken. Been riding for almost 7 weeks now! Loves electral and bunking college ;). Rides what's left of his 4300.
For the post of waterboy: Sharat Chandra. Good rider, but bike is in the box right now. Actually, he might be faster now...hehe. Former manager of Halli Boys, no wonder he wants to be demoted.
