Women folk where art though? It’s getting lonely out here! I have been
following these posts for the past one month and I hardly see any
women involved in discussions here. Was hoping to meet a huge women
crowd on my 1st ‘Critical Mass’ this Saturday but could find only 5-6
of us. :-(

Hey, are you women folk quietly biking away in different parts of the
city and its only I, that has been missing seeing any of you or are
your bikes quietly rusting away while you are spending a fortune on
gyms or waiting to find walking/jogging partners? Hey, what’s a
better way to get that Sylph like figure, than biking ;-) at the same
time doing your bit for environment? And what’s a much better way to
convince Bangalore to start using bikes by demonstrating ‘Girls on
Wheels’ Power? Boring boys are not half as much convincing! ;-) hee
hee .

So, Lets start biking and let’s get more women out there biking! Get
your friends, relatives, colleagues, neighbours, let’s have more women
on the roads, lets make it a movement by serving as examples
ourselves, riding our bikes everywhere we go! Yooohoo to Girl Power!
Girls on Bikes Rock! :-)

Cheers,
Neera

And get Joshine some new competition. She must've gotten bored of winning everything she participates in.

have to mail to the group from my g-mail account.
@All: Do we have a women's category in Nandi races? Or should i first

Yeah, i saw 4 girls at the start  of the Nandi race (including me).
& of course, Joshine reached first!
Should we have a separate points count for girls so that we are more visible? The count should be different too since we are so few, may be only the 3 first could get more than 3 points. What do you say?

Oh yeah..

I think we agreed at the start that the categories would be different for guys and girls.. Ill make the changes for both the races and also update the points tables.. Will update the group once the points are updated..

Totally slipped my mind..sorry..

O Wow! So girls have been participating in the races to Nandi. Sorry,
I missed the mail on points /standings. I have been spending a lot of
time everyday reading the posts on multiple threads. Plus I have been
following RFL posts too. So i some times miss out some of the mails.
But glad to learn that women have been participating and that you guys
are planning to make it a separate category it self. :-) I will
definitely join in the action next time.
Cheers,

Neera! We narrowly missed coming to Nandi. There was a bit of clash of events that day, and another event won out in the group :) Besides doing all the good deeds of saving the environment etc, I ride for the sake of pure passion. I love the fact that some guys find it funny, and some find it offensive to see me ride on the main roads, peak traffic time, and hence some good naturedly give me way, and some simply try to run me over!!! lolz..nothing has changed since the time Indira Gandhi was the PM. No woman gets away easy :)

Hey, I was wondering if we could actually finsih up a site I was trying to work on. I have a website www.bikerchiks.com. Had the idea for a while, and have the site, but didn't do much. Any girls, and boys if it doesn't come in your way of machismo ( :) ), want to have a go at it with me?

All thoughts are welcome.

Kavitha.

@Kavitha: that's great that biking is your passion and you even ride
in peak traffic. :-) Hey, do join in the Nandi ride next time. Other
Biking Cuties please come as well.
Also nice to learn that you are working on website for Bikerchiks!
That's great! I could contribute in terms of content. Infact i have
come up with some Slogans and cool T-shirt lines for Bikers. Let me
post them on a separate thread so that junta can keep adding and
building on them. Do invite ideas from junta here now that we have
more than 1000 members....lot of talent flowing here!
Cheers,

I suspect that if you do a rank-test between men and women, the women
won as a group.

So are the men so afraid that they want a separate category?

Men aren't afraid I suppose, but just running for cover? :) And that could be for many, many reasons..ha ha ha..

And, if it's possible, can we circulate this email, and add comments on what you might like to see on www.bikerchiks.com, as Neera suggested? I agree that there is a lot of talent here. I will post/share what my vision for the site is as the framework falls in place a bit more. In the meantime, will look forward to suggestions.

Kavitha.

@Kavitha: I typed www.bikerchiks.com and it took me to
http://mylifemyvote.com/agenda.aspx. Then I tried, www.bikerchicks.com
and whoa, it took me to another world! What now?

@Others: My first post here. Never been part of any cycling event or
the group itself but I cycle to office as often as possible.
Interested in the next Critical Mass event, let's see if I can manage
it!

Hey Suholla,

www.bikerchiks.com is the right one. Domain was pointing to the wrong server. Corrected it now. Sorry about that. There isn't much uploaded to the site now. Will be working on it as and when I can spare more time for it, and suggestions come in.

Critical mass should be last Saturday of July. There will be a mail going to everyone on it. Stay tuned-in, and we will have more folks joining in this time.

Depending on where you live, there is always people riding early mornings. If you are in South Bangalore, you can ride with us.

Best wishes.

@ Suholla, Welcome to the group. Do join in the next Critical Mass...
and also join the guys who plan rides on the weekends after posting
their plans here. You can start with the slow/easy group and then join
the pros for some fast biking.
@kavitha: Keep up the good work. Something on 'Female cyclists:
Women's Fitness, Training and more' here: http://www.bicycling.com/topic/0,6614,s1-4-404-0-0,00.html
As more women start involving and discussing on these threads, we will
get more ideas based on their queries, concerns, needs etc. So women
folk do get more active here. :-)
Cheers,
neera
