hI All,

Iam planning to go to Ooty from Mysore, But i would require you
suggestions regarding

1) the routes to be followed
2) any routes which is prone to wild animals attack in Bandipur
region...

Your experiences will make sure i will not commit the same mistakes.

Regards

Just after Bandipur there will be lot of elephants waiting to attack only auto mobile drivers.
Cyclists dont have to worry ..abt forest  wildlife.. forest wild life  does not attack cyclists
Only the wild automobile drivers in the city attack the cyclists.

Enjoyed that, Murali!

Seriously, Mahesh, if you see elephants, you can  just carry on..... unless they are crossing the path, in which case, stop and wait...especially if it is a lone tusker. Most other wildlife will vanish in a brief period of time.

The sad truth is that the corridors are so fragmented that the chances of your happening upon wildlife are low.

Have a safe trip, and come back and let us know how it went. If you can take the steep gradients of the Mysore-Ooty road, it's very scenic!

Cheers, Deepa.

I almost got trampled there 2 years back.. I was on a cycle .. and
the tusker which was grazing on the side rushed towards me and I was
about a feet away from it . I still get nightmares abt that incident
.. So be very watchful , Stop at a safe distance if you stop a
tusker.. I was foolish and did not to loose momentum ..:)-

I biked ther again last year but was extremely nervous .. till i
crossed into Madhumalai...

With so many crossings the worst attack was by the shower of caterpillars!!! Its still itching!

Wildlife, I have hardly encountered any, except for deers and couple of tuskers. Moreover, its illegal to stop in the forest area. So just keep riding. Mudumalai tiger reserve has no tigers, so feel free to bike around. Just do not enter the restricted areas.

Cheers!!!!
