With less than 3 days to go, pls add stuff that riders should make a
quick checklist and tick off before starting from their homes.

Mandatory: (To ride the brevet)
1. Helmet
2. Tail light
3. Headlight / front light (have good ones, and not for namesake just
to get the Brevet card)
4. Reflective jacket / Strip (30 nos available at BOTS Rs. 100 a vest,
or buy from SP road - any industrial shop)
5. Enough cash to put in VitM box (20? 50? 100?) - I hope we dont have
the story of "filling the well with milk" happening here. I am a firm
believer that Cyclists are the nicest people of the lot in the
society, so, please don't disappoint us. We are creating history,
putting Bangalore in the global map... And the community should
strongly back ourselves well. No coins please :)

Optional:

1. Puncture kit / spare tube
2. Inflate tyres to max PSI, roads are simply too good!
3. Raincoat? (I prefer a swim cap under helmet)
4. Plastic cover - to put your mobile, money in case it rains
5. Floor pump / hand pump along with puncture kit
6. Water bottles / Hydration bag / Saddle cage
7. Dates /Nuts /Bananas
8. Gatorade / Isotonik / Enerzal / Electral - Tip: About half litre
every 2 -3 hours should do good!
9. Sunscreen lotion
10. Wax legs? (Ok ok, its not a race)
11. Gloves, bib shorts, jerseys with back pockets or Dry fit Tee and
backpack
12. Sunglasses?
13. mini-volini, knee support?

Hydrate well before the Brevet day. Take it easy and slow, it is not a
race. Don't rush seeing some roadie scums whizzing past you. You know
how you ride, and your body better than anybody else. The locus of
control should be very very internal. The one who finishes this mock-
brevet last will get a special prize! (If we have enough money in the
VitM box that is...)

Ride with a group, and enjoy the brevet. If a rider is in trouble, do
help. We have plenty of time to complete the brevet.

The timestation open-close timings will be put up soon on the website.
So, dont worry. The gross speed should be 15 kph. Just take care of
that... and one should complete easily.

Keep adding to the checklist in this thread. We have some hardcore
techies who crystallize the collective intelligence generated here and
are constantly updating the website... :)

Regards, Venkat

Spare Batteries for your lights. In case it rains, it is a low light
situation, and therefore your lights must be on. Might drain them
faster than you'd otherwise expect.

If possible, carry spare lights.

Zip ties. :)

PLAN for not finishing -- in case of failure, etc., how you will get back.

I would say half litre every 1 hour. That is what Shamim suggested on
the BCB race and paid the price for not listening to it.
(He actaully said half litre every half an hour).

Cheers

Different bodies, different needs... My suggestion was bare minimum.
More the better, unless you overhydrate...

But i strongly advocate on one thing - Have a close watch and listen
to your body.

Watch the colour of ur ***, that is the best indication of ur salt/
hydration level imho. Pros, pls correct me.

Definitely not a pro, but yes, this is a good indicator, but it might
be too late :(

Another way I've read about is to weigh yourself, then ride for an
hour, and then weigh yourself again. The difference is apparently
mostly fluid loss per hour. This can probably give you a good idea.

Take lots of money to hitch a ride on a truck or something? Hardly
seen any Volvo buses on the route...

Reflective strips part of your jersey is also fine.... But some reflective bits, (apart from tiny little patches on ur saddlebag/shoe etc) should be there

If not, no one is gonna prevent u from riding.... But, u will be riding on ur own in non-brevet mode

Although, there is not much difference between brevet mode and non-brevet mode tomorrow, for the actual ones from Jan 15, u'll not be eligible for the medals if u dont follow the rules.... And if u r hoping for a super-randonneur medal, or a PBP entry, u r toast
