Please see Google earth (KML format) uploaded onto this site for details of route on Google earth.
I started from my house close to 9KM on Kanakapura road (from X Outer ring road and Kanakapura Rd aka Family mart junction). The road goes through a few small villages and is almost traffic free. It ends in a village and there is actually an off road path that continues on form many more KM over to the next village and very scenic. I returned the same way but took an off road diversion which is very rough and took me to the base of hill atop which there was a Vaishanv temple. The road to the top of this small hill exists and is very steep.

We could do this loop after doing the Bannerghatta park road (off Kagalipura) for a 5h ride that would be quite nice followed by breakfast at my house?

Hey Madhu,

Did you, by any chance go to the Yogavana hills ? (Sorry I've some problems with Google Earth here)

We had been to there earlier - http://www.shreekumar.in/?p=17. Can you cross-check with the panaromic image at that link ?

We have a long-pending plan to ride from there till Ramnagar - which we believe is possible.

Regards

Shree,

My trip didn't include Ypgavana Hills although that too sounds interesting especially the ride to Ramanagaram and back should be good if traffic free.

The route I posted is not as far south east on kanakapura road (actually just before Art of Living) and then heads in a direction towards Mysore (that is due South).

In fact this Sunday would be a good day for a ride. Perhaps we can try a nice 4 to 5h ride on small roads where there is not much traffic.

Ravi,

Good. Since no one else seems to be coming we can perhaps synchronize by personal mail as to meeting point, trip route and time. If anyone else wishes to join they are welcome of course.

OK. So far there are 4 of us interested:
1. Ravi Ranjan
2. Manjula
3. Rohan
4. Madhu

Can we all assemble at 0630 at a point on Kanapura Rd exactly 9KM from the junction of Outer Ring Rd and Kanakapura Rd, AKA family mart junction? The co-ordinates on Google Earth are:
12deg  50' 56.40" N    77deg 31' 18.83" E
It is the 2nd right after passing the NICE road while going South of Kanakapura Rd. I will be waiting at the junction from 0615 to intercept you. From there we can proceed. After finishing I offer breakfast at my house and then you can head back. My house is < 4KM from this point.

Since the Ramanagaram route is yet to be explored I vote that we don't try something new. Let someone explore that before we decide to ride as a group. For this trip we can stick to the Bannerghatta park trip and then if you guys still have oomph we can do an additional 2h loop behind my house.

You can call me at +91 988-053-5070

It will be a good idea for all people coming from city to co-ordinate and start together from the Outer Ring Rd junction. Perhaps either Ravi and or Rohan can take initiative since they have done this before.

I would recommend 0600 start for light and safety.0630 rendezvouz is
fine. I will be early to ease sync. there is a convention hall just
before the junction on ring road. you should find parking in front in
that side street.

Sorry to seem ambiguous. Sunday it is. Being a runner I keep Sat for
long run. Madhu.

Uh-oh, I thought it was going to be on Saturday,  I already have plans for Sunday morning.

I guess it's too late to ask, but is anyone game for a ride tomorrow? I was thinking of going onto Kagglipura and then cutting back to Bannerghatta road. If you're interested, let's meet at the Family Mart junction at 6:00 am.

Yes, I did that ride yesterday. Unfortunately, it was too late and too short a notice, so no one else turned up. I had a very difficult time between Kaggalipura and Bannerghatta as my seat was loose and I had forgotten the tool kit. But, I managed to get it fixed once I reached Bannerghatta road. In all, it took me around 2 hr 50 minutes and the total distance covered from HSR Layout was 66 km.

last Sunday Georg and I revisited this route. We went to the point in
the fields at the end of the road (where we turned back last time) and
by inquiry to a farmer were able to get to the large hill. The path is
quite rough and we had to carry the bikes a few times. Rocks and
thorns, got scratched a bit but glorious off road stuff with grand
views. The trail skirts around the base of the hill and ends at steps
leading to top where there is a shrine of sorts. There were Indian
vultures flying around and vistas are magnificent.
The way back was simpler as we found another dirt road that wound up
and down through fields and villages and dumped us back on to the main
road just short of the BGS school leading back to Agara main road
leading to kanakapura road. So we now have an exciting loop of mostly
off road of around 3h. I will call for this some time soon. Be
prepared for punctures if you don't have thorn proof tires and or tire
liners.
