Folks,

I am 2.5yrs new in bangalore and I have no idea where to find electronic components.

Can someone tell me where can I find a 'Variable Inductor' in bangalore?? A friend and me are doing a project to make a Theremin and we need that component. I have had ppl search all of SP Road and all places where they 'thought' they could find one but nothing turned up.

Either:

I will have to source it from some other place or make one myself. But before that I just thought of asking the group in case someone has an idea.

Any reply will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
vasu

To continue this off-topicness, you can make it at home with a lot of
copper wire to make a coil and a high-something-something (coefficient
of induction? forgot my engineering many years ago..) rod in the
middle. As you move the rod, the inductance changes and you get your
variable something-something.

You bringing this contraption to scare cyclists in the next race or
what?

Sardar Patrappa Road in City Market (Parallel road to Silver Jubiliee
Park road) is the electronics road of Bangalore (similar to Blackers
street in Chennai).

If you do not know any other store, head directly to Vishaal
Electronics. He is really good (and I am not just talking about
reading the number of Ohms off of a Resistor).

Thanks for the replies!!!

well, for SP Road i can say 'been there done that' didnt find it anywhere. have contacted a guy in madras and if there is no positive response then i'd DIY it (pretty much what Rushi suggested).

@Rushi: guess not this time but if we do make a Theremin and if it works satisfactorily then I will surely show it to you

Thanks,
Vasu

For what it is worth, try speaking with Vishal Electronics. Speak with
Vishal. You can find their number on JustDial.com.
