Hi folks,
I am going to join a new company located in ITPL from this may. I want to know,
1. Is there a cycle parking available in ITPL?
2. Is it free of cost or should I buy monthly pass for bi-cycle like for other motorized vehicles?

PS: parking fee for bi-cycle is unacceptable for me :(

Regards,
RF

Hi mohammad,
Its around 225rs. And you need to get a cycle pass for this, they will give you an access card.
And there are 2 parking slots, one is underground and other one is a open area..Your parking preference will be based on the building you work. meaning which ever is closer.
Sad part is, there are no washroom facility in the whole off itpl. Enjoy maadi.
And itpl guys are only money minded, forget about free cycle parking...huh yes there is one area where you can park your cycle for free, but no security available and that's really far. And itpl doesn't provide parking in all the parking lots in all the buildings available for the cars, Why??, there will be very low income for them if everyone commutes by cycle.

Paying for bi-cycle parking is very sad :-(
And no one has raised a concern with the authorities!

Yeah, its really shameful that ITPL charges parking fees for cycles and they also claim it as part of go-green initiative. I think we should speak about this to ITPL authorities else to HR people in our companies.

They claim it as a part of go-green initiative?! They have changed the  whole meaning of go-green initiative for me :P

Nara, I'm in for the talks. I would first talk with my HR when I join there this may.

If motorcycles and cars are charged, why should parking for cycles be free?

Is parking facility available
Ans: "Yes"

Is it chargeable
ans: "Yes"

I am not in agreement with rest

Are we sayin the meaning of Going Green initiative
» parking facility is free..
» shower facilities
Etc etc

On one hand we say we r no less than other motorists on the other we say thins need to be free..

As long as my cycle is protect from rain sun and thieves I m fine to pay a nominal fee

The place I work, I am still convincing ppl that cycle is a good alternate mode of transport .. Forget the parking fee , I am not sure if I c my cycle in 1 piece whn I finish work ..

Its great @least they encourage by havin a parkin slots for all ITPL folks..

No offense taken nor given

What's so wrong about paying parking fee for your bicycle?  All our time on the road in traffic is spent trying to tell people that we are equal to the motorists at the very least.. when it comes to parking fee you wanna say no? I'd be happy to pay parking fee.. that kinda makes it the fee collector's responsibility to make sure my bike is okay while parked.

Vinay, Giving shower facilities is absolutely necessary bro.thats actually a part of Go green initiative. And i speak to many motorists on road, everyone seems to be having the same complaint.."we dont have shower facility in workplace..."

Folks,

1. 225rs * 12 equals 2700/annum.
When I joined my previous company 2.5 years back, there were zero cycle parked at the basement. Now somewhere around 50 cycles owned by  employees are parked. 5-6 of them might come in high priced bracket (15+). Rest all are local branded cycles which will not cost you more than 6k. Do you think if you include parking fee for them would promote so many ppl to choose cycling? In the 2 years' parking fee they can buy a new cycle itself!
2. Nowadays cycles are meant for big rich IT fellas or poor daily wager. Still a large section of society (clerks, govt officials, police etc., ) think its a Taboo. Don't you think if ppl start cycling normal 5-6k range cycles, the community will not shy away n nos will gradually increase?! Will they be willing to shell 50% of their cycle cost on parking?! Would they be drawn towards cycling?
3."we are not less than any motorcyclist" nor we are "EQUAL to any motorcyclist". I BELIEVE WE ARE WAY AHEAD THAN ANY OF THEM ANY GIVEN DAY! So, let them be punished for carbon foot print, why the cyclist?!
4. The first initiative my current company did to promote Go-Green was to provide cycling parking stands n Showers! The results are right in front us. 2500% increase in cycle commuters in 2 years!
5. I am against govt collecting tax on imported cycles. Let ppl use modern technology from abroad, Until and unless you are not leaving any carbon footprint why should one be punished in name of Tax?

Regards,
RF

PS: and yeah, no offence given nor taken ;)
