Was wondering how many here are intending to do the 600 km Brevet...

Any tips on staying fit enough to accomplish the 600 km ride in 40 hours?

I'm worried that 600km Brevet ride is on 15th April(Friday). If I need
to participate in it, I need to take leave for office on that day. If
it would have been on Saturday I'll be riding for sure.

I agree. Many might just opt out of this just because they have to
take off on Friday. Or at least, we could have left an option for
those who wanted to start on Saturday morning, though it would mean
more work for the volunteers.

However, I'm riding. As volunteers say, I will get literally the whole
of Saturday to sleep off and enjoy the Sunday for a pleasurable BBCh
ride after the rest on Saturday.

I had not done any training in my previous rides (new baby arrival
made plans worse). I'm planning to run about 30 to 40 Km a week as
preparation. And that has to start right from tomorrow as I wouldn't
be running in the weekend again!!

Hi,

Ten days to go for the event, am just curious to know, how many of them have registered so far, what would be the total probable numbers?

About 30 have registered for the 600Km brevet and 5 enthu-cutlets have already registered for the 1000km :)

About the dates/times - this has all been a learning. We can fix it next time :)

Coming to think about it, 1 day off is not that big a deal.
You are doing a 600Km ride on a non motorized vehicle. Its an achievement of mind, body and machine. That's awesome enough to deserve a day off as a treat for yourself :) In fact companies should give like a day off for folks who have the guts to do this.

Sure. I usually run in Lalbagh botanical garden, around the lake.
Sometimes around the park itself (about 3.5 Km on lap, I suppose). I
will be there at around 6:45 tomorrow morning. 9448969293 in case you
want to join me.

Yes It's not big deal. But my situation is something different. My
joining date in new place is just two days before Brevet ride. It
won't fair for me taking leave immediate 2days after joining. More
over I won't get leave if I say "I've to go for brevet ride and I need
take leave for a day", I've to create some fake reason for taking
leave. Any way trying all possible ways to ride 600km brevet ride.

I thought every company has something called "casual leave", which
does not need any reason. In my office, casual and sick leaves are
clubbed as one category. Sick leave cannot be applied beforehand
(unless you know the you are going to be down beforehand :)). But you
can apply casual leave beforehand. To prevent misuse, we are allowed
to take only upto 3 days max under this category unless a medical
certificate is submitted.

Wow! We already have 41 riders. Looks like, longer the distance,
greater the enthusiasm... or is the heat of Tamil Nadu that is keeping
the riders excited about ;)

I think I have done the best preparation (or at least some
preparation) for this ride compared to earlier rides.... excited about
riding my new bTwin sports 1 :)

Also excited about the road race on Sunday BBCh. Hope I beat some of
the regular guys this time :-p
