I had the same thought during TFN 2010. If you prepared to ignore the uphill parts, then it is downhill :)  Honestly, this ride will not be too trivial, there will be a few non-trivial climbs.

Revisit the map,you just can't ignore 1303m climb in baking sun(8:30am to 5:00pm), by the time folks reach anchetty it would be noon and anchetty to Denki climb its is going to be hellish in afternoon-i'm sure for avg rider for climbing 23+km in noon will easily gulp down 3hours..,

ain't wet-blanketing, be prepared its not going to downhill ride.

Having been there twice in the last one month, can say that at around noon and a little after, one will not get any shade for most of this part of the ride.

At the end of the day, its an awesome ride.Whether you complete it in 13:30 hours or not, its just worth it doing this route. Do your best, don't focus on the timing. Just do the ride for its sake, and you'll feel rewarded. If you take longer, don't worry, you would have just discovered a really good route ( The adjectives I have in mind sound much better than 'pretty good'- but I don't want to oversell here - I do recognize that others may not love this route as much as I do)

Hi,

The rules mention that the reflective vest is mandatory. I recall reading earlier that it is available at SP Road, however, does anyone know if you can purchase it in the south/east side (Silk Board to Whitefield) of Bangalore. I'd like to avoid a multi-hour trip if I can.

To all doing the Anchetty 200 this Sat :

The cue sheet in the website @88.8KM states "TR towards Jawalgiri. At this intersection you will find DCC bank".
During my practice ride last weekend, noticed that the DCC back has moved from that spot. At this point, you will find a Govt Office (Block development office).

Stay on the Main Road as it turns left, past an orange coloured house with blue doors

-- I think this is the 1st time I have seen such an instruction on a cue-sheet. A single house with specific colours is a landmark :)

71.820.5TL Turn left on the bypass towards Attibele. On the left there is a yellow board saying “Attipalli 11KM”, and “Hosur 4km”

-- At this point when you take a left, on the left corner, there is an eatery 'Ramakrishna Lunch Home' I think this would be a good time to take a break before you dash the final 35 km.

Print it on paper with a laser printer, put it in a cover and zip-tie to the bike. Life is so simple!

Print both on one A4 sheet, laminate the sheet, cut in half into two A5 sheets.

> Will there be too much wind resistance due to sticking this on the front ?

Unfortunately yes. An A5 sheet has an area of 0.031 square m and when
normal to its plane is along the direction of motion, it's drag
coefficient would be really high, and from this drag equation
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_equation) you can see it would be
quite draggy.

> How abt I stick it on clothing ? or write using Marker pen ?

You could try folding it into an airfoil (make sure the number is
still visible from the front), which would give you some lift -
helpful on the climbs. Although, you should check with brevet rules if
it is legal, I heard even aero_bars_ are frowned upon.

Some additional info for riders:

0. Registration and reporting: There is a large turnout expected for
this brevet. Please reach the start point early (by 5AM) if you want
to start the ride on time. At the start you need to:
a. Sign the waiver
b. Collect your card
c. Get your bike checked and the card stamped

1. Terrain: The route has some steep climbs and descents. Ensure that
your bicycle is in good condition - especially the wheels and brakes.
Ride with utmost caution on the descents and keep your speed under
control at all times. Watch out for cattle on rural roads.

2. As far as possible, avoid riding alone. Parts of the route
(Maralwadi to Thalli, Jawalagiri to T.Soolagunta and Anchetty to
Denkanikottai) go through protected forests, marked by boards. Even
though there are no reports of animals on these roads, be attentive at
all times.

3. After Thalli you need to take right to go towards Jawalagiri. Do
NOT go straight out. At this point (88.75) there is a BDO office, and
an eatery called Sri Ramanivas (Pure Veg). If in doubt ask for the
road to Jawalagiri. See the cue sheet page (http://goo.gl/eZ1to) for
geo tagged photos of the route.

4. Secret Controls may be placed along the route to ensure that riders
follow the cue sheet. Secret controls will not be timed for this
event.

5 In case you do have to abandon the brevet, please inform the
organizers. Avoid riding on the forest roads after dark. From Thalli
you can take a bus to Harohalli and from Anchetty you can take a bus
to Hosur or Denkanikottai.

6. The end control is at an ATM. If you do not see our volunteers,
take a slip and wait there. If you would like a commemorative medal at
the end you will need to pay Rs 375 in cash at the end control.

Hope you have a good ride!

In my opinion, its mostly roadbikeable but it is a pain with roadbikes on this route. Some of the steep sections may not be banked properly, even if the road is supah-smooth (which I believe, is not)

And last time , 50+ people went on this route , 2 people broke some bones.

And yes, many parts of this route will have little or no cell phone coverage, so take adequate precautions.
