hi all,

this article seems to suggest that it should take only 45 Rs to transport a bike from mysore to bangalore.

May be handy for the big mysore ride coming up :-)

thanks for the very useful info.

Not sure why, but every time we carry our cycles on Airavat, the conductor/driver invariably asks for bribe/extra money.
We have been paying about 30-40 /- extra on the luggage ticket, but last sunday on our way from shimoga the driver asked for 100/- . finally we succeeded in not paying anything extra to him.

Just wanted to confirm, is it legal to transfer cycles in KSRTC ?
The first reaction of bus drivers on seeing a cycle is that they are "never ever" going to carry that stuff in their bus. Only after some nagging they relent.
I understand it depends on person to person.
as a matter of fact, we had even transferred 3 cycles from karwar, on a Rajahamsa once, even that conductor was helpful.

Yes, it is legal, but you need to take a luggage ticket separately
(with the 3 units as indicated by Praja), which depends on the
distance (around INR 60 total from bangalore to chennai, for
instance). This ticket can be issued by the conductor, but sometimes
they (driver/conductor) refuse. Once I had to get the ticket from the
supervisor.

As long as it is profitable to ask for a bribe, I think they will do so.
