Gaurav,

This definitely looks nice and is reasonably close by.

It's very dangerous to ride on kanakapura road, I have seen people killed, on bikes and motor cycles after having been run over by errant trucks and buses. Safest bet will be to transport bikes to Kanakapura by car / van and then bike the roads / trails / hills to Mutati and surroundings. I am sure we can get a good 100K ride out of the area if we go and explore.

I would like to try this immediately after the Bangalore Ultra to take a break from running.

Hi Madhu,

Yep, I guess we can't take chances on this route unless its state band or something like that!!
BTW ... lets plan for coorg or ooty trip post Bangalore Ultra, we have christmas/newyear/other holidays coming up.

Cheers

Nice place to be.

Hi Santosh,

Can you tell us more about the route leading to this place? Like how long we got to ride on NH# and what is condition of rest of the route.

Picture in the wikipedi looks nice. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devarayana_Durga)

Cheers

Hey,

Yeah sure. And the pics are actually like that only. Beautiful place.

About the road, its mainly highway. after nelamangala its the nice
tumkur highway and the road is really superb. Say its about 3/4 th of
the distance.
After that we need to take a diversion in between where the road
condition is not so good. But managable.
Dont worry all tarmac road only. And for the challenge we have steep
uphill at Devarayana Durga.
Regarding the safety national highway is one way and its very wide so
no prob. and after that not much traffic so need not worry.

Regards,
Santhosh

Hi Guys,

Anyone game for Devarayana Durga??

Mean time I had look at route options for Muthati. Check out the attchment. We can leave early say 5AM and cross Kanakapura before 7:30 AM. At Sathur we are suppose to take left to Muthati (on the banks of Cavery).

To avoid kanakapura on our way back we can take the bannerghatta route. We will have to explore a bit to reach Talai then to Anekal - Bannerghatta is pretty straight forward. But the problem would be extra 20 KM (atleast) to the journey, which is 180 KM already ;)

Cheers

Hey Guys,

Its approx 80 KM from family mart and can be 100KM (or more) on the
way back. Following are statics from bikeszone
http://www.bikeszone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=590

Statistics
Total Ride time : 5 hours (Including breaks)
Total distance from BTM : ~87 Kms
Road quality :
Bangalore to Kanakapura(50 Kms) -> Good, but lots of traffic.
Kanakapura to Sathnur(16 Kms) -> Very good, sparse traffic.
Sathnur to Muthathi(18 Kms) -> First 6 kms of bad road and later the
quality is too good, good change of elevation and nice ride through
forest.

Cheers

HI Santhosh,

Place is yet to be decided. Can we wait for more time? I am busy this sunday (running half marathon) and working this saturday :(.

BTW ...hope guys for the trip to have done atleast half the distance before the actual trip. Geared and light weight bikes are always better, else you might fall behind :)

Cheers
Gaurav

Could you all also send out the route (if it's different from the one below) and timings etc? I might join midway or something; not a big fan of riding on busy big roads.

Thanks,
Rushi

No issues man. And all the best for the Marathon :-). Yup i do have
geared bike (its a trek 3700) and i do go for rides every weekend.
Alone though.
And yeah thats why i asked you is it possible on sunday bec im also
working on saturday :-(.

Just keep us updated.

And Rushi i guess wee can go to Devarayana Durga. Big wide highway and
as much as i remember i neva saw too much of traffic on that route. So
we can decide on anything.

Santhosh

Hi Guys,

You can try Family Mart > Kaglipura >Bannerghatta route if you want to. Kaglipura > Bannerghatta is traffic free. on the way back you can take bennerghatta road to IIMB.
Family Mart > Kaglipura >Bannerghatta > IIMB is about 35 to 40 KM.

For more details :

We have done this this ride many times.

Cheers
Gaurav
