Okay, so the subject might be a tad dramatic, but I've had this happen
to me twice in the 2 weeks I've been cycling, so comments appreciated.

The first time I took the cycle out on the intermediate ring road,
some punk on a bike decided that he'd like to see how fast he can
drive by and how close he can get to hitting my head with his hand
without actually doing it. Today again, some kids doing triples on a
Kinetic Honda decided that that they should pat me on the back for my
valiant effort.

So has anyone faced this? And any suggestions besides on handling this
short of going armed for a street fight?

Cheers,

wear a cool looking helmet, and they'll look at u in awe instead.

Of all the reasons to wear a helmet this is the most significant for me. I've even experienced lorries giving way for me :)

Have had to bear with a lot of hooting and nasty comments but rarely have I had to get off my bike and beat them up with my shoe.

I generally glare at them or ignore them if they swoosh away after the dastardly act. Until now, however, nobody has dared to touch me while I am on my bike. When that happens, I hope I won't lose it.

Such morons are there in Bangalore you should stay away from them, but
i sure suggest keeping that spray, if things are going little out of
control you might want to use it.
And i advice not to ride alone on lonely roads!!

Respecting own space, lane, speed and of course appearance brings
dignity to the cyclist :)

What I do is, Own a lane, wear a helmet, and feel (not speed) as if
you are driving a sedan !!

People will look to the bike and respect the Helmet .. believe it
unless we do stunts on the traffic ( I have seen few of the
members) !!

beat the hell out of those creeps and then tell them "if you want to be as strong as me, better cycle". Such sick unsocial, inhuman and dumb animals should be treated like they deserve.
