Hello folks,

I am sorry to flood your inbox with these groups. I am only posting so that it might certainly help someone in need.

I have created a group called 'Dabba wala (home food delivery)' in facebook and the link is :

Brief note on group:

Missing home food? You are at right place :-) Now request for home made food here and find someone who can offer you the box on delivery.

Dabba wala (DW) is a platform where you can request or/and offer a home made meal/snack box for home or office delivery. Please read complete description below.

The idea is to provide home made food to people across and also to make an optional earning by offering home delivery food.

Box provider - someone (employed/non employed/house maker) who can prepare an extra meal (or more) and offer food (from breakfast to deserts to any food item) in (optionally disposable) boxes for delivery. They can provide delivery on his/her own rates and with their own terms and conditions.

Box consumer - someone who can request for a meal/snack box and willing to pay for the box/make bulk orders on need basis.

Box providers and consumers can work on their logistics for pickup and delivery.

Feel free to join and invite your friends to the group. This also encourages house makers to work from home (by making one or more meals) and make an earning; and on other side one can have healthy home made food. The box provider can be your neighbor/someone who stays close to your office and can deliver you the food.

You can buzz me for more details.

Thanks,

Krishna Chandu

Good thought. This may help cyclists to carry extra weight lunch boxes from home :)

Couple of comments -

1. How do you guarantee the delivery of the food at appropriate timings in such an open group? In this model, We dont know who is selling and who is buying so how can we trust and predict the delivery? I have seen few websites where you can order in advance for 5-8 meal and do online payment. This is more predictable.

2. I wish, you could implement some kind of mechanism to reuse the Steel/Tupperware boxes over disposable boxes. This will also require to collect the boxes back. Let us save the planet as possible.

Cheers
Venki

Thank you Venkatesan. I have only created a platform where box providers/consumers can offer and request food on demand basis and its just in early stages :). The group is not responsible for delivery of food/work on logistics/quality of food etc.

The deals/logistics/delivery is all left to figure out between the box provider and consumer.

Yes, I do agree it will be great to use steel/tupper box. Again this is completely the choice of box provider as how they want to pack (or) alternatively, box consumer can drop empty steel box and box provider fills with food. Box consumer can later wash it after eating the food.

As the group evolves and the ecosystem is established, more rules can be added slowly.

Thanks for your inputs. Would love to listen more so that the system can be shaped better :)

Regards,
Krishna Chandu
