Dear all,
A dumb question :)
When to use Electral and when to use Glucon D to replenish ourselves during rides/races.

I know we sweat and loose salt etc during workout and Electral (salt based) helps to maintain the balance.
Also GluconD provides glucose for energy.

So is both advised to be taken together or any one of this preferred over other??

Rgds,
Nalla.

We need to replenish both glucose and salts. I use two spoons of honey
in one bottle of water and electral in the other bottle of water.

Anyway bananas replenish the glucose which I usually take.

I use this formula only on multi hour rides.

For my daily ride to office (one hour in the morning and one hour in
the evening), I just use normal water.

Thanks
Raghu

you need the glucose and the carbs to power you and you need to salts to replenish the salts !
plain water is fine on shorter rides, but long rides, race situations and hot weather make using plain water pretty dangerous. Cramping is almost a definite (like some folks found out on the race today)

We want to try and focus on nutrition and hydration after/before races at the BBCh. Was speaking to Dr Badri today and he was talking about how bananas and a mixture of lemons/rocksalt/honey is a pretty good way to hydrate yourself after a race.

I typically carry enerzal (prefer it over electrol) on my rides. Glucose almost never, eat before a ride and carry an energy bar on the ride.
