cycling startups in India?

Hello all,

A friend of mine asked me if I could provide info about cycling startups in India.  I think he was looking for that info, some upcoming event; I guess I need to check.  But I got quite excited as I mentioned various names to him, and thought it would nice to compile a list, and do some categorisation as well.

Below is what came to my mind (mostly all are from Bangalore); looking for others to add to this.

This is for a startup fair that my friend is looking to organise in Bangalore in the coming weeks.

Its interesting to see the long list of startups, particularly when the state is promoting motorcycle tourism in a big way ! Cycles would have been the best option to promote such tourism activities. 

Many papers have reported this,  I am sure many in this group may have seen it too.

I heard that in 2014, the Govt had hired consultants to prepare tourism reports for each district, through the public private partnership model. One such initiative to come out now is probably the motorcycle tourism. Wish to know if there are any similar cycling initiatives that are proposed. 

Cyclist will have to keep away from some of  the highways considering how unsafe it is. There are many who still dare to go in spite of all the risks ! Over the last three months I have travelled by bus several times to HD kote and beyond on my way to Kabini, the Bengaluru - Mysuru road has very high density traffic even on weekdays. I remember cycling here many years ago, it was a peaceful ride ! 

The state should provide safe passage across all highways for cyclists, this will promote bicycle touring across the country.  Even if the state fails to provide such facilities, a village to village cycle trail can me mapped out for many of the destinations and shared mutually so that we can stay away from the dangerous roads.

Good to know Royal... don't recall now if I have come across looplube products. Do you sell through local stores like RR Cycles etc.?

I will pass on your name to my friend. Not really sure how their plan for startup fair is coming up. But if I get more details, I'll post them on this thread (plus as a new thread too).

That aside, for info of forum members, can you share more details about your products?
