Freak Accident and my narrow escape today

Today morning I had my first " car scrape" in 4 years of daily cycle commuting , and it was a Bizzare accident. There is a small S turn (more like 2 T junctions back to back) near Brigade Palm Springs in JP nagar 7th phase. As I approached the first turn, I saw a Brand new Skoda Fabia with a Temp reg sticker stalled at the intersection. As I was cycling past the Fabia with my head turned towards the car , I saw it start moving very rapidly my way with a banshee engine whine and I just instinctively hurled myself left, the car scraped my right elbow and front tyre, and crashed into the wall 10 ft away shattering the wall completely . Luckily I escaped with a elbow skin scrape and bent front fender, another inch closer and my elbow would certainly have got shattered. The Car driver was unhurt, he looked more traumatized than me, my injuries being minimal, and enough "help" at hand for the car, I just left the scene without saying anything to him.

Learnings from the incident:
1 Watch out for "New Reg" plates in addition to to all the "Learner" cars
2 Thank your stars and celebrate being alive -I guess no amount of defensive cycling can completely save you from a freak accident, so keep riding ;-)

On a side note, damn, the car is strong.. it broke the wall and still doesnt seem to have much damage to itself.. atleast from this angle.

[OT] The CID detective part in me.. noticed the wiper position of the front windshield.. Does this car have it in wrong position.. like Ford does.. i mean US style?? Perhaps thats what freaked out the driver :)
