Once you exit Wind Tunnel Road to join Old Airport Road, take a right
and head in the direction of the Old Airport. Once you pass the Old
Airport entrance keep proceeding till you reach a signal. There is a
bus-depot on the right hand side and also you might see a couple of
Volvos parked here.
Or better see this link :)
HAL Main gate is opposite to the spot marked B :)

Me, Johnny and Ashwatha completed the ride. Quite a scenic route this
one!
Will put up a ride report soon.

Me, Ashwatha and Johnny met with Pankaj and his friend at Varthur.
Although we planned to meet there by 7:15am the fog today morning was
too dense for them to reach Varthur from Sarjapur so early. It was
quite a cold morning too, my hands were already frozen just riding
from Old Airport Road to Varthur :)
We started from Varthur at 7:45am or so. On way to Hoskote Pankaj had
a fall and hurt his thumb. Although he decided at the time to continue
the pain got worse by the time we reached Hoskote and he turned back.
Me, Ashwatha and Johhny carried on. For anyone else doing planning
this route, try reaching Hoskote as early as possible to avoid heavy
vehicular traffic. We couldn't reach early owing to the fog so spent
quite some time negotiating through heavy vehicles across a really
narrow bridge.
Entered Malur through Hoskote after which this was a scenic ride till
almost the end. There is plenty of tree cover till Bagalur so even
with the sun out we were quite all right. In this part of the route
the headwinds are very strong, at times strong enough to make use of
granny gears :) if on a climb.
Initially we considered going to Sarjapur via Chikka-Tirupati but
finally did the route via Bagalur instead. The ride from Bagalur to
Sarjapur gets much warmer owing to a sharp reduction in the tree
cover. Another sore-point (a minor one) is also the quality of roads
on the very border of K'Taka and TN, quite poor almost no road in
certain spots.
One thing I personally enjoyed a lot on this ride is the amount of
attention our cycles received especially from school kids. Near
Bagalur some person stopped us and asked if we were riding for a cause
or some such :) Well, if someone does gets encouraged by seeing us
cycle then yes why not? :D
Reached Sarjapur at around 12:30pm. Took the route to Varthur lake
from there and then the road straight to Old Airport Road. I continued
a lil further to NGEF layout. My cyclo-computer shows a distance of
112km approx. Our ride time (minus the delays) was around 6 hours.
