Hello all!
I have a big curiosity about these two bikes, most of the components are same except 5000 if full carbon and 500 is alloy with 1kg of weight difference between them.
Merida Reacto 5000 (~Rs. 1.3lakhs )
Merida Reacto 500 (~Rs. 95k )

I would like to know your inputs about these bikes. And are these bikes worth buying?
Thanks in advance and happy diwali to all :)

Hi Yagnesh,

Its not just 1kg difference, carbon and alloy materials are completely different leagues.

carbon is built for speed, all your energy goes in momentum. Nothing goes waste. (Do more research on carbon frames).

But you choose what you want depending on your what kind of rides you do & budget too.

But both bikes are nice, where are you purchasing ? Wheelsports is trusted retailer for Merida, you might get good discount if you are lucky ;)

What's your opinion?
Did you test ride both and see which one feels good under you...
Comfort on the road matters a lot. I suggest you do a30 mns ride on both the bikes and decide.
If carbon bike feels slightly better, than go for allu bike.. You save 35k.

If price doesn't matter and weight matters, and if this bike is for competitive cycling than go for carbon.

Thanks Balu & Pradeep for your inputs :)

Yes I will do more research on Carbon frames.
My usage is typically between fitness and competitive(mostly).

I have been riding mostly in Ahmedabad(Gujarat) but I do travel to Bangalore a lot for work. Currently I haven't tried any of these bikes, I might be able to try them may be next week or so.
I have seen both the bikes in Ahmedabad and I am getting a deal of around 85k for Reacto 500 and 1.3L for Reacto 5000, though the difference is only the carbon frame. And this is why I am confused.
Also I don't mind buying from Wheelsports, it has a good repo and I trust Wheelsports too :)
I would like to talk to them, do you guys mind sharing the contact details if you have?

I am still open for suggestions and advice from all the pros in this group :)

So I have almost finalised on Merida Reacto 5000 Ultegra 2016 and Fuji SST 2.3 105 2014. Both are really good bikes for flat terrain and serves the purpose that I am looking for.
Only thing that is blocking me is which one should I go for?

some facts:
1) weight difference is 700gms (reacto is heavier)
2) reacto has the latest ultegra 2016
3) price difference is 10k (fuji is cheaper)

I would love to hear suggestions from you guys.
Thanks in advance :)
