Hey all,

Reporting another case of stolen bike. Although low on hope, I loved my bike. Here's the details.
  • Bike: White/Red Bergamont vitox 6.2, 51cm size.
  • Stolen Location: Apartment, 15th main, Indira Nagar. Had a watchman but he's a sleep at night.
  • Locked with a number lock. Whats your opinion on number locks? was that a bad idea?
  • Time: night time 19, July 15
  • No FIR filed yet. Thought reporting here was better than an FIR.
  • Serial: BGM28MMAA23510
Attaching picture for reference( I'm also marking the changes from stock bike)

Did you ever hear about bikes being recovered after being stolen?

I read somewhere in the form about sunday market "Sunday Bazar this Sunday (ie BVK iyengar road) it is been told to me from people there, 2nd hand bikes been sold on Sunday's" is this real?
I'll be all over such places for next two weeks. Please let me know if you have anymore info on how bikes can/may be recovered.

My experience of reading bike theft reports - guys in Indiranagar should lock bikes only inside house during sleep and buy only "unbreakable" locks when parking in public places. Thankfully, nobody knows that I have six bikes parked behind my house, that is besides the two in the front veranda ;)

Number locks have been fine for me as my bikes are usually unattractive, mostly dirty too. But the forum had shared various videos of how to break code of the number lock. Once one of my office colleague lost his bike locked with number lock overnight. When the thief left the bike near a public phone booth (yes, he knew the phone number of the owner), the bike was locked using the same combination that my colleague had used!
