Hello all,

I know this question has been raised several times in this forum.
Still I would like to clarify a few things.

Am looking for a rack for my Hyundai i10 (no spoilers on).
- rear is preferable owing to cost, ease of use adn ability to use it
on other cars too
- lot of highway driving done and need the cycles to stay firm at
100km/hr speeds.
- would need to carry 2 cycles. I have a Trek 16" and planning to add
a road bike (and a MTB for my wife).
- would be skeptical in drilling a hole on the i10 to fix a roof top
rack

I had a look at Thule at Wheelsports and Methods.

- 9104 ( low mount rear rack)costs around 8k
- 9106 (high mount rear rack) costs 13k

I know Vivek has a few of these, havent checked them. Not sure if he
has rear ones.

Does anyone own these Thule racks? On an i10? Any feedback? What I
noticed is that the 9104 Thule rack doesnt seem to fit the 16" Trek
fully. The Trek bar is a bit short for the 9104

Thank you,
Prem

Hi Prem

I had a 9103/9104 from Thule and used it for around a year on my Santro. Suffice to say it was rock-solid.
I have lugged upto 4 bikes on it for short distances and two bikes without wheels for long distances with absolutely no issues.
In my experience I found it was a lot more stable than the strap based rack I have now.

I have a Trek 4300 18" and it fit on the rack with a little coaxing, so a 16" will definitely not mount conventionally.

Thanks Rajat for the reply!

Does the bike sway when fixed onto the rack?

As you said, 16" would be an issue I guess as the bar length is
shorter than the width of the rack.

Prem

no side-to-side sway. but the bikes will move when braking/accelerating., I put some sort of rubber/plastic padding at the points where the bikes might scrape against each other. but then again have never experienced any major scratching

Took the 9103 yesterday. (was out of stock for a month).

Actually took the 9104 first from Wheelsports. But found that it
doesnt fit my i10 as the strap is a bit longer. This model is for cars
like Wagon R that have a bigger boot door. Called Naveen who gave me
the dealers no (Methods).

Went to Methods.. they took my 9104 back and gave me a 9103. They were
very cooperative.

Will try it out this weekend and probably post feedback.

Regards,
Prem
