Hi Folks

Anyone has any experience in carrying cycle (packed in a box) in domestic flights.

Is it allowed ? Is there any limit on size of the box ?

Cheers

I have taken my cycle from Mumbai to Bangalore and Bangalore to Mumbai
via IndiGo. I had to pay Rs 1000 each way, as the weight crossed 15 kg
free luggage limit.
Mumbai to Bangalore part went smoothly. I had a nightmare getting them
to handle the cycle properly at Bangalore airport, they couldn't
follow the basic instruction of "This way up". And at the end of the
flight I had a opened up box reaching me. Thankfully there was no
damage to the cycle though.

I once brought mine from Lucknow to Chennai, and paid no extra charge at all. I don't recall the exact airline I was in, but most probably it was indigo or spicejet or air india.

Just pack it well inside the box your cycle would have come in and check it in as normal luggage.

Since the last few months, Indigo allows only 15 kgs of check-in baggage for each pax and any excess baggage is promptly charged. I think Air India/Spicejet still offers around 20 kgs of baggage allowance.

I transferred my bike from Nagpur to Bangalore and did not even pack it. Just took the bicycle straight into the airport and then just deflated the tires. Had to pay Rs. 1000. The flight was Indigo.
