Correct me if I'm wrong.
45K is for the upgraded model. It is not same as the old Triban 3.

Friends need some investment recommendations. Is it advisable to move out from equity market and invest in bikes. I can use the bikes as well and still make more money selling second hand bikes.

Your thoughts?

If you want tires for the 650C, you can try out the 26 x 1.2 (559 x 30C : http://www.decathlon.in/storeitem.html?iid=234561&vid=20140214973&tpt=desktop2_en) which is available at Decathlon. I tried placing it over the wheel and it seemed like it will fit and I was told that it would fit.

And it is as slick as any road bike tire would be. If I remember correctly, triban 3 stock tires on 51 cm size is 571 x 25C. So, there is obviously a discrepancy of 6mm in radius. I say, just try one right in the shop. You never know, it might just fit.

Worst case scenario would be to replace the stock tims with MTB rims (narrow ones). That should cost you much cheaper in the long run.

Whoever told you it would fit was wrong. A 559 BSD tire does not fit
on a 571 BSD rim. Using thicker rim tape (+2/3 mm) has made life
difficult for me sometimes, 6mm is impossible ...

... though if it fits, it will definitely roll off a 559 rim, I would
not buy a tire that was so "tolerant".

You'll need to add new long-reach brakes as well. Might be cheaper to
import good 650C tires.

I cannot say with certainty without trying. For instance, the tires on my 650B MTB rims (both stock ones) easily pops out before inflating air. So, this tire might as well fit in a rim whose BSD is 6 mm bigger... a really rough guesstimate. Having said that I agree, 6 mm does look big figure for most tires and rims.

Caliper brakes on btwin does have quite a lot of room for the pad adjustment. I can see that it has roughly 25 to 30 mm. So, 6mm does not look that bad.

I guess we should abandon all theory and engineering then.

I'm puzzled, sometimes when you should try things out, you do armchair
physics. When things can be done by armchair physics, you want to try
it out! :)

This is by design. Most good tires are designed to be installed and
removed without any tools if you push the bead to the well of the rim.
The wider the tire and the rim, the easier this is.

I'm more interested in the case when they /pop/ out after inflating
air or when they don't fit at all (too small, too big).

You're asking for a 6mm increase in radius, which actually translates
to a ~40mm *elastic* increase in the length of the steel wires that
forms the beads.

Have fun doing that by hand.

Okay. If they came with brakes that have enough reach then its fine.
