Proposing around Nandi (happened in April last year i think). A couple of nice climbs leading into the village.... 60 kms...

Or better... Since its starting at the turnoff... head straight 30k on bellary road and turn back... Awesome roads (brevet launch ride  route)....

Any thoughts?

We could do Harohalli-Jigani and back. Absolutely no traffic and good climbs.

Yes. Good roads, very little traffic and good climbs. My vote for this route although I won't race. I'l just ride to jayaram's canteen for kesaribath :)

Bellary road - horrible idea. A race can get serious, and with the
traffic, it can get serious in a way we don't want to.

Do a Harohalli - Jigani route instead. Climbs, little traffic and nice
scenery (avoid Kanakapura road)

We have a basic calendar here - http://www.bangalorebicyclechampionships.com/races/2011-calendar/
We can definitely modify the race location if required (not the dates)

The Nandi race is pretty neat, its marked for Dec at the moment. The only issue is the 40km ride up to the start point!

But we need to have the route recce'd out asap. This time kinda sucked as some of us had to recee it on Friday.
Does not leave too much time to share it with others.

Hi,

That road is filled with traffic and since the road quality is good people take full liberty in testing their mad skills. Please avoid that road.

Hi Folks,

What is the final verdict on this?

Can we finalise on the Harohalli - Jigani route or are we looking at any other possible routes for the race this month?

Thanks
vasu.

Hi Vasu,

Last week me and Santosh did Harohalli to Jigani route. Route is good, no traffic, nice uphills. We can opt for this road, but if someone has good road in mind we can think of it as well.

Sujit

Hi Sujit,

The start point is way too far off for a lot of people so I am not sure if this route is good to go or no.

What do people think??

best,
Vasu.

If Harohalli as start point is too far, maybe we can do slightly
earlier start and have the Nice Road intersection on Kanakapura road
as start point, avoiding the Metro construction mess. Jigani
Industrial area can be the end point ? Kanakapura road is not too
crowded early on, so should not be an issue oif we start at 630 am or
even 7 am.
I guess the distance would be about 50 odd km.

On the return, ppl who have parked their cars near Merida would need
to cycle another 30-45 min(15 odd km on flattish terrain) to reach
Merida jn again

Thanks Parag. We'll keep this in mind.

Yesterday Vivek Radhakrishnan informed me that he was looking at some place near Yelahanka which has been recently tarred and is good for a race.

Lets hear from him and then take a call.

thanks
vasu.

@Vasu: for a road race, we've gone upto 40-50kms out to the start
line. so considering the fact that it's so difficult to find good
stretches of traffic free road, 30 kms seems pretty okay really.

the nandi road race stretch is around 40-50 kms out for a lot of us.
rajakunte will be the same, maybe more.

Folks,

The race this month is the "Stonehill International Circuit Race"

It will be held in a nice circuit loop which is about 5.6km long and has:

good surface,
negligible traffic,
a few speed breakers,
a couple corners with gravel (need volunteers to sweep this bit)
mostly left turns,

The race distance would be 56 km. 10 laps of 5.6 km each

The start point is 4 kms from the CCD on Bellary road. The driving
directions and google map will be sent by tomorrow.

Folks who have registered for the first time will be assigned jersey
numbers and the championship standings will updated later
today/tonight.

We are introducing a new concept of 'challenges' in the race month.
Watch out for further information on this!

Best,
Vasu.
