Hey guys,

Could anyone who owns an F7 comment on the bike and give a personal
review of the same? How would an f7 compare against the 4300D? Also
everyone talks so highly of trek and its quality, is cannondale spoken
of in the same breath? Wanted an expert opinion before picking up an
F7.

Thanks.

Hi Matthew,

Yes, Trek is always kept high. I myself have a Trek 4300. and I am very content with the same.
If you are one among those who is confused b/w cannondale and Trek, I would suggest to take Trek.

Its maintanance free... light ... high in Quality & worth the money...

I would like to see a comment from a connondale fan.
bythe way i was once a cannon dale fan, until i took trek!

I prefer cannondale over the trek. I think it is a matter of personal choice.. Both are comparable in terms of quality and VFM.. So ride both and choose the one that you are comfortable with..

Hi Manish,

Most imported bikes are low maintenance. All aluminium bikes of the same type are comparable in terms of weight (for non-racers). Most of these bikes also use components from the same manufacturers.

Perhaps you could elaborate on "high in Quality" ?

Thanks

For some reason a Trek makes you fall in love with it, canondale is good and has a good repute, but somehow I found trek better, ride both of them and go with your feel.

So far I do not regret buying a trek, absolutely no hassles or issues.

You pay a bit more for the 'Trek' brand. At least in road bikes, thats
what I have seen. Trek is not so much value at the entry level. Maybe
the same for MTBs but not sure.

Trek seems to enjoy a wonderful reputation in the Indian market
because of its first in the scene advantage over any other brand.
It seems to be a matter of personal choice as in "nike " vs "adidas"
or a "mercedes" vs "BMW". Each with its own brand of loyal die hard
fans and users and not much to choose from between either.
Getting back to the F7 specifically, what caught my attention was the
fact that it has lock outs which the 4300D lacks. Is that a major
advantage especially while riding long distances on tarmac? Also are
discs a bane or a boon? I haven't heard many people rate discs
highly?
Thanks for the advice.

Trek 4300 has lockout and preload..... Lockouts are extremely useful while riding long distances on tarmac, and particularly while u r climbing hills, so that u dont waste ur energy pumping into the shock absorber.

the necessity of discs depends on ur style of riding.... If u ride a lot during rains, in slush n muck, then discs are definitely worth it, cos ur rims are usually  mucky and slippery, but discs are relatively cleaner..... As far as stopping power goes, a well calibrated V-brake will be sharp enough for an emergency brake
