Hello Fellas!!!
Hope you all cycling well :)

One of my friend wants to buy a Firefox cycle and he has asked me for my Honest Opinion on Firefox Brand and Roadrunner model of its. But somehow I dont know I answered negatively as soon as I heard FIREFOX...and then he asked me why and I was also wondering why I said no(may be coz somebody gave me the same reaction when I was asking the same question, but I never asked why). So I went to explore the reasons of saying NO to Firefox cycles.

I tried googling it and also searching the reason on Bikeszone.com, but din catch a logical or definite answer.

So my quest remains answered. I need you help in understanding why Firefox is a big NO NO ??

I appreciate all sort of answers ;)

Thanks

I can write about Fire fox bikes as I was owning one (and also did more than 13,000 kms on it), people will jump up and down, that is why I am silent.

It was Firefox Roadrunner.

People call that BSO (Bicycle Shaped Object).

I sold it off, because it was a wrong size bike, do not ask how did I do so many kms.....hehehe

I have been using a Firefox Fusion 2.6 steel MTB for my commute for past close to one year. Absolutely no issues till now.

@yagnesh, i too felt the same way in the start, i always had negative thoughts on firefox, but during an event i saw many firefoxers zip past me. a friend even offered me a ride on his. i then realised why many of us hate firefox is because its too cliche, they have the most showrooms and most advertised. i think many will agree that firefox was the 1st to sell high end quality bikes in bangalore. when i bought my merida , my friends addressed it as "wow you bought a bike like firefox".

I've seen a brand new FireFox full suspension bike frame fall apart on first use on a downhill. It was an expensive "high end" bike in their range. Luckily nothing serious happened to the cyclist. He took the cycle in someone else's car and dumped it in their showroom opposite Forum Mall. The next week or so he bought a proper cycle.

People don't hate Firefox because its too cliche. They hate it because they know what piece of BSO junk it is.

PS: I restarted cycling with Thunder MTB and currently own ACT110+ and both are BSOs. So I'm not writing this because I hate Indian brands but because I hate BSOs.

I just wonder....you know what is BSO, why do you still ride a BSO after declaring it a BSO.

@Shreelesh ... good point...thats what I thot.... may be the quality and ergonomics are the turning down factors in Firefox... also they are quite heavier than other bikes.... btw why to ride a BSO when u hate BSO? and that too two two ???

@anil .... haahhahahaha :P

After riding it, I did realise why it is a BSO but I always had to prioritise photography expenses over cycling so upgraded to ACT110+ instead. That is better than Thunder but still not ideal in terms of issues and ergonomics. And now that I've quit my job to pursue photography full time, it is going to be a while before I can get a proper cycle.

Hi,

I vehemently disagree that Firefox bikes are not good.

Einstein said

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

Firefox bikes are the best in their segment and market as long as you are keeping it for purposes other than cycling. To really judge Firefox bikes as modes of transportation would be like judging a fish for its ability to climb - and according to Einstein, that person is being stupid.

I really think people have started committing that mistake because Firefox bikes are sold along with Trek bikes. Now some shops do sell ripe mangoes with raw mangoes, but that does not mean you can have both of them have the same experience.

It took me around 30,000 INR to realise this and I hope that my experience is really distinct and unique and people do find Firefox bikes usable as mode of transportation. But since then I have bought around seven bikes and my experience has always been amazing - my bad luck was only isolated to Firefox bikes - but I am sure it was because I was being stupid.

Someone even wrote mentioning that they had seen Firefox frames crack. And I ask you - "HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE". And I answer through my personal experience - "ITS POSSIBLE WHEN YOU RIDE FIREFOX MTB's THINKING THEY ARE BIKES".

Please buy and invest in firefox bikes, it makes you feel really good and healthy when you steal a look at them standing in your drawing room, while having two buckets of butter dipped popcorns over Coca Cola and watching your favourite sitcom "Kyun Ki 40 inch ki waist bhi kabhie 30 inch ki thi".

It is high time we are a little more objective in reviewing bikes as car magazines do - like design (exterior and interior including ergonomics), performance, ride quality, handling characteristics, efficiency and price (value proposition).

We need to come up with some parameters which are crucial to our usage and rate the bike for each of those parameters. Until then, it is never satisfying to read - oh! experience is not good. I'm not doubting the claims, but just saying that it does not help a buyer.

Exactly, and the price point also should be compared else it's like comparing a 10L car with its 30L counterpart. You know when you go with a cheaper product, there are some compromises you will have to make. But the trade offs and the decisions should be based on individual requirements. There is no point pushing everyone to buy a BMW because it is safer and performs better at 200kmph. The same delta money will find better utility for some people.

Thanks and regards,
Ashok.
