Following is the easiest way (that i know of) to become a member of Decathlon in a days time and that too for free.

I had got my membership for free through BMC (http://www.bmcindia.org/) but it took months :(

same here. i also registered with the "Sports for life india" and also
recieved an email saying to issue a card on behalf of "Sports for
life india" in the acounts holders name. do i have to show the email
to decthalon, or wats it going to be now ??

I am in the same boat as you all are. My understanding is that the same mail may have been sent to Decathlon who inturn will send a registration form for us to fill and revert back to them at our convinience. I can be wrong :)

"We hereby authorize Mr. /Ms. / Mrs. Rajesh Kumar , to sign Decathlon
Membership Registration Form and all requisite papers for Decathlon
Membership Registration process. We further authorize to obtain the
Membership card in his/her name, to purchase products from Decathlon
on behalf of our organization."

So Just go there and get the Card right?

Whoa.. so many emails on this thread while i was away for dinner.. sorry for not clarifying this before.

The automated email from SportsForLife is also sent to Decathlon (is what i believe).

Within 24 hrs you should get email from Decathlon Customer care with Decathlon membership details like registration no., username (same as your email id) and password. You can login to their website with this.
Next time you visit their store, you can get your card printed. You will either need printout of the email or you can show a photo id card like Driving License to get your card printed.

Folks,

Once you get registered in a day or two you will get SMS to your cell number with details like member ID and password for your login.You can try logging in with those details.After this, any time you go to Decathlon store you show tell your cell phone number which you entered while registering then they will search for you and ask for SMS with that member ID.If you show them that SMS and ID proof (Company Badge/DL) then they will get you printed membership card on sopt. !

Thats it you are done.You can go for shopping in Decathlon !

Atleast this is how I got my new road bike Btwin Sport 1

BMC also stopped issuing free Decathlon membership, even the other website mentioned below is no longer providing,
I became a Decathlon member via BMC years back, but couple of months back i got email from Decathlon that they will be disabling my online a/c as they are not shipping to BMC members, i can still walk into the store and shop.

If Housing Society is delaying then yoj can visit Decathlon & request
any one who is billing their stuffs to bill yours separately, you will
have to pay by cash so carry sufficient :)

I do that all the time (asking someone in line to bill my items), I dont have membership. So I carry sufficient cash.

In my recent visit the decathlon guy started saying he wont even give the bill (and no exchange/warranty) if a non member (me) is taking the product.

I argued for a while telling him, how does it matter who finally uses the product, the decathlon sees it as if the member is buying the product, so why no bill? He says "rules saar!!" In vain I said OK take cash and gimme the product without bill.

Isnt it ridiculous that they refuse to even give the bill? I agree that for exchange or warranty claim they might insist that the same member who did the purchase must bring back the product, but whats this issue about not giving the bill?

Interesting. Which branch was this at? Perhaps Bannerghatta, i have no
experience there.
I have billed for others many times, i ask for separate billing and
hand it over to them. I know for warranty claims they may not be able
to trace me.
Even the person at billing counter has told them that they wont get
warranty benefits. I always thought bcos the buyer wont be able to
bring me for that.

Nalla, they have changed their policy. With a member helping to bill, a non member also can pay with their credit card. Please call and confirm before going just in case. I helped somebody bill and he paid by his card last week.

That's odd, for I never faced this. I have a membership and none of friends have and they buy stuff sometimes with me or sometimes without me by using my cell number and paying with cash. Only once one of them was asked an ID and then he asked a near by member to buy for him and he  did that happily just like I do for many people there.

They never ever said anything like they won't give the bill or so. Please try taking it up with the store manager or srop him/her an email. They respond quick and properly.

When I go to return the stuff, or my friends go, they ask for either the bill or my cell number and they get the bill from their database - match it - and proceed further.

It was Sarjapur.

Surprisingly I went with my friend (who is a member) a week later and purchased a few things from the store and just to try I gave my credit card to my friend asked him to use that. The purchase went fine :)
