Considering the price, quoted my guess it that majority of materials used is llow quality Polystyrene.   Since cycle helmet is not mandatory by law, I am sure you want for safety. Why compromise on safety –that too of head. Do go check of materail used.

Although I strongly believe in be swadeshi buy swadeshi, I also strongly believe I should be alive to practice it. The absolute lack of any information on the site other than 2 lines of "high quality polymer. Ensures maximum safety" fails to instil any sense of safety in me. The only way to know if it can "ensure maximum safety" is therefore to do destructive testing and I'm not lending my head for that; khali hai, par mera hai. I'd rather suggest you go with some better helmet brand if you dont want to 'compromise' on safety. This looks more like a cheap imitation to me. It can be helpful for some minor crashes but I dont think it will help in the event of a major one where a proven brand might have.

I have it -- the blue one. I purchased it from the BSA Go store from
where I also purchased my bike. The bottom half of the helmet seems to
be made of some thermocol like material. The top half seems to be
plastic. Amongst other things, the following is written inside the
helmet

* This headgear is designed to absorb the energy of a severe blow
through partial destruction of the shell and/or lining. Even though
damage may not be visible, the helmet should be replaced if such an
impact occurs. Some impacts may surpass the helmet's ability to
protect against severe injury or death.

* Some common substances can cause damage to the helmet, though may
not be visible to the user. The use of any solvents, paints of
cleaning solutions can cause damage to the helmet and make it
ineffective in the result of an accident.

* NOT FOR MOTOR VEHICLE USE.

MADE IN CHINA (Not really swadesi)

Yes, I would like to upgrade to a better helmet myself. While
purchasing I thought, something is better than nothing.

Hi Folks,

i have been using them for almost more than 6 months, and from my exp
find it to be ok and not the least to forget, what ever it is helmet
is an helmet, the least it would reduce the impact, infact i was saved
once by the same thermocol when i had a crash on the pavement in
bristol the helmet had been broken in to two pieces but it did the
purpose.

+1 on sriram's

If u r buying a helmet for saving ur head in a crash (and not just visibility on the road), its always good to go for a better one. Even the expensive ones may look like thermocol inside, as it is made of polyurethane foam. (What is generally called thermocol, is polystyrene foam). And i can bet that the cheap ones wouldnt have undergone rigorous testing. The TREK/Bianchi/Giro stuff will assuredly be rigorously tested, as they would be sued otherwise.

I wouldn't bargain with the price of my head

There are some hidden benefits on getting a good helmet (how do you define a good helmet ? Expensive ? Branded ? I dunno)

Not pushing a brand here - but the Trek helmets have a super feature - "return in case of a crash"
helmets are normally supposed to be replaced once you have a bad crash - cause you have no idea what kind of structural damage the helmet might have gone thru, as these materials are complex.

Trek gives you the option to return the helmet and get a new one free of cost :) how cool is that ? (just for the first year though)

am assuming the other good brands will have something similar or better
