Thats interesting.... just curious...

How did you Upgrade your interests in cycling by cycling less than
60Km, did you use another bike?

I have been using an MTB for around 2K's now and thinking it would be
nice to have a road bike. It could help me break out on weekends and
holidays.

It amuses me what kind of up gradation you will be doing after a road
bike that too after riding just 60Km's.
However 10,500 for a road bike with basic accessories sound a real
cool deal.

hi,

when is the right time to upgrade to road bike?

i have done 6000 kms plus on my MTB and close to 3000 kms on my hybrid, how do you know it is the right time to buy a road bike?

I think body need to evolve to ride moving from MTB to Hybrid and to Road bike ( i may be wrong, i dnt even know).

Any sharing, thanks in advance.

Well i don't think that there is any benchmark you need to achieve
before buying a roadbike. The kind of bike you ride should solely
depend on your needs. Most road bikes can either be categorized into
racing machines or LD (Long Distance) machines. If you feel that you
are ready and your body is trained enough to do some serious LD rides,
go for a road bike. But make sure you don't ride 600K on the first day
itself. Let your body adjust and adapt to the frame.

From what i have been reading i guess you have done lots of LD rides
and i feel you should buy one now. And make sure you buy a good one,
because you won't be purchasing road bikes frequently :)

I was waiting for Shankar's reply :) I also agree that its not an upgrade.. both are different in their own class.

Well, as Dr. Deepak told, it depends on needs. Most of us have both MTBs and Roadbikes for different occasions.

I mainly bought my roadbike last year to participate for BBCh road races :)
It also helps if you are pressed for time and need to explore/train for longer distances.

Yeah man. I find the *upgrade* term very stupid. Even friends who know I paid less than a third of my mountain bike's cost for the road bike told me "oh you finally upgraded to a road bike". I think I should *upgrade* to better friends lol.

Folks, the bike has gone in for 60km ---it does not imply i have done just 60km :)
Also upgrade isnt a mistake so to say...I loved the bike I own currently n like the milestones we always crave to achieve , upgrade is just another simple way of putting up my reason to say I am looking forward for high end bikes as my finances and more importantly my psych abt cycling is at its peak!

ALSO< I REQUEST YOU PEOPLE TO PLEASE USE ANOTHER THREAD TO TALK ABOUT WHAT IS A GOOD WAY TO SELL OR USE "UNMISTAKEN" WORDS IN A MAIL ...

IF ANY FOLKS AMONG YOU ARE INTERESTED REVERT ONLY TO ME & USE YOUR INDIVIDUAL MAIL THREAD TO CORRECT MISTAKES...

Thanks and get this message in the right spirit of cycling...

Anyway, coming back to the topic on hand, it might be wise to list the bike for sale on bikeszone.com and bumsonthesaddle seller list also.

I dont think that 'upgrade' is the right word. They are different
types of bikes for different types of riding.

If you are using a MTB always on the road, and on good roads, you
might as well get a road bike. If commuting on not so good roads, get
a cross, touring or a hybrid.
