No offense, just asking as I dont have an MTB at present--my Daily commute ACT 105 but it does not have quick release, so cant repair punctures etc----was planning to get my Sport 1 if rideable there.

+100.
Summary of the gyaan distributed by Nelly (what I remember, please add
if I've missed anything):
SADDLE AND POSITION:
1) Keep Saddle Low, as low as possible. Remove all extras from the
bike, mudguards, carriers, reflector lights, etc.
2) Do not sit on the saddle, keep standing on the bike during the
entire DH run. Keep centre of gravity low.
3) Do not be stiff on the bike, your arms and legs can act as extra
shock absorbers, so use them.
BRAKES:
4) Do not brake so hard that you lock your wheel and start skidding --
this destroys the trail and also means you've lost control. Feather
the brakes instead.
5) Brake in a 60% to front, 40% to back ratio. Never equal. Front
brake has more stopping power.
RIDING:
6) Always look where you want to go, not at your wheel or at the rock
that is intimidating you. If you look at a rock, your bike will go
towards the rock.
7) Take the smoothest line possible.
FALLING:
8) When falling, try to roll on impact, always separate from your bike.
> Iggy and Nelly does it in 1min 10 sec it seems.. crazy !!!!!!!!
+1
There's going to be another session next week, followed by trail maintenance.

Dear RidersIts was really nice to see all of you doing the Dh trail and more importantly having fun riding it, it was our pleasure to help you all riders ride better and be safe while pushing the limits,Some more Points/ Precautions in addition. to what Nalla and Pai mentioned earlier.I see people riding bikes without shoes which is dangerous while riding DH your legs may slip off the pedals which may lead to crash sometimes even a nut cracker :-)We may not allow this at the race day, its for your own safety.Protection is necessary!!! Try get what you can (Elbow/Keen Pads, Good Helmets , Gloves, Shoes...)
Least Is Helmet, Gloves Shoes. Also please Note:Remove the clipless pedals for the race especially when you are new to the DH ridingAlways Look back at the trail while you are climbing up, and remember the trail sections so that you know where you are going, this prepares your mind to do it smoother.(optional faster, safer..).Remember to push yourself accordingly the more the protected you are faster you can ridealso Bike limitations Full-Sus has more power compared to Hard-tail bikes with less suspension travel only in the front.Stay safe to ride another daySee you at the trail....
