(wheels 36 H...i am not sure if this info is relevant to my
question)......i am thinking of either kenda or bontrager

thanks

I had stock Bontrager tire on my Trek 7100
rear tire life was about 5500 Kms
Front tire life - 7500 kms,

Now I have Kenda Holiday on both,
I have done about 8000 kms (rear tire) and is holding good. I may be
left with another 1k to 2k miles on my rear tire.

I've had issues with Kenda (Kontender?) road tyres flaking out near the beading after a while..... But that might be a one-off case too

I dunno abt the hybrid ones, but the Bontrager MTB tyres which came stock on my Trek 4300, lived ~10,000 km, (and now need replacement)

I remember having to struggle hard to get hybrid tyres too.... I had to resort to using 25s ultimately.... But that was a few years ago, where there weren't too many hybrids around..... I thought things woulda changed by now!

hi,
thanks. One small info. how much would a kenda tire size 28 (700c)normally cost. one person is quoting a price of Rs 1400. I think he is overcharging.
thanks

I stumbled upon a  700x38 c size 28 tyre...but my cycle requirement is 700x35 size 28....does it make a difference?...the shopkeeper says it wont....also if i go ahead and put the 700x38 c tyre it will be for my rear wheel but my front wheel tyre is 700x35...will it affect anything?
thanks

what do u mean by size 28?

All the info needed is in the '700x35' 700 and the C refers to the diameter, and 35 refers to the tyre width....

I was talking about 700x23 and 700x25 tyres earlier..... Using 25s will give a very roadie-like feel to the hybrid

Generally, the greater the tyre width, the less bumpy u'll feel, the lower the pressures needed in the tyre, but at the cost of slowing you down a bit

When I switched from 35 to 25 on the hybrid, I saw a marginal improvement in avg speed, but a noticeable increase in bumpiness. So, i guess the difference between 38 and 35 shouldnt be much

Having different tyre widths shouldnt be a problem.... Putting the wider tyre in front, will make your braking and handling better

Let me contribute to the confusion :)
Even with same sized tire say 700*23c.. there are different tires which hold different tire pressures and have different threads for traction.
I am marginally faster on my new Vittoria Rubino tires (takes max 145 psi) compared to my older Hutchinsons (max 110 psi) tires. The ride is bit bumpier no doubt, but traction is better because of better threading of Rubino.
Ofcourse the stats are based on the only 3 rides i had so far on the new tires.. first at BBCh3.2011 race on sunday and next two my commute to work on monday :)

Nalla.

IMO Abhishek is getting confused without any reason. You had posted on BZ also right?
Any tire will fit your bike until it is 700x 28/32/35/42 and the rims and also the brakes can accommodate the same. For what purpose are you planning to change the tires?
Also check with Sachin if he has any 700s in stock. I have Schwalabe Delta Cruisers, run for 600kms, 700x28. If interested, quote the price!

@ all... thank you fro your help...yes i am relatively new with the technical aspects and working my way through it.. :)...
@ sudhir...i want to change my tire because there was a small damage to it which resulted in my tube also bursting...perhaps my carelessness of riding with less air cost me..
@ Akshay i had posted on the iisc bikers network. I think you are referring to sachin (pedals and wheels)...i have been after him for a while but at present he has no stock...i have no idea how much a good tire costs....different people quoting different prices.i came across a kenda tire 700x38 which costs 1250 (at least that is what the rr guy quoted)....are the btwin tyres from decathlon good?
