Hi all,

10 days ago I went to FIREFOX station Hyderabad to buy Trek 4300. But I couldn't get the right frame size. The price was 21K+ then.

Now the showroom guy calls me and says the new stock will arrive on Monday, but the price is 22,800/-
Is there a price hike again in TREK 4300?

Will there be any up gradation in the components?

How to identify the components, if there is any change.

Regards,
Satish

A bunch of guys bought bikes last weekend in Hyd - I think about 4-6 bikes in all. They were there at the Koti place, and I'm sure they checked Firefox prices.

You can talk to Shay Mandel (9963200058).

By the way, he's a biker, not a showroom contact person.

Have you checked the rupee/dollar conversion rate?    it's gone from 44 to 50.45 in a short time.   Imported goods are now that much more expensive.

On the positive side Indian exports should do well, but there aren't many in the biking industry.

yup. The site has the new prices now.  Just updated it.

Need to update the pics with the 2009 colors and add the 6500 to the MTB section and 1.2, 1.5 and the madones to the road bike section :)

Good Luck Folks

yup. Sucks I know.

My guess is Merida should also be bumping up prices - its not possible that they are shielded against the volatility of the dollar  :)

Vishy, I would not be surprised when Merida come with a Price increase because Market is like that with exchange rates changing every minute.:).
Just buy a bike which you like.

Don't listen to all these guys complaining about dollars exchange
rates. It's a right-wing conspiracy to make us burn more oil. Drill
baby, drill.

Merida should be more insulated as being a Taiwanese co, their
currency has not appreciated as much. I think this is a temporary
thing due to a number of reasons.

1. The prices of all commodities has crashed, bringing down the cost
of production
2. The price of oil is in freefall, if you believe some analysts, the
days of $150 oil were an aberration that will never come again. I
recently read that Ford had restarted production of its F150 trucks
again . Whatever you may feel about that, the fact with falling gas
prices, it's quite likely that interest in cycles may come down.
3. The massive rise of the dollar against all the currencies is also
likely to reverse in equally dramatic fashion in a feew months time

Put all this together, we could be seeing quite lower prices in a few
months. Atleast, let's hope so.

On the BOTS site I noticed that the available colour for the Trek 3700
has been changed to "Acid Gold". Does this mean the matte black is no
longer available? :( Is there any likelihood that there will be
sufficient old stock left with the dealers?
