This has been my daughter's favourite night trekking place. Lately I
heard that night trekking is banned there. Could anybody confirm if it
is still allowed?
Thanks,

I dont think its possible to ban night trekking unless its a ptotected
area.

Normally, I tip the boys in the foothill without hesitation before
starting the climb itself. So, I guess they are generally happy. I had
done this mountain around 4 or 5 times, all in the night.

This is less than 2 hours trek, with neat path. We don't need any
backup car for food and drinks. If you pack a piece of bun and a
packet of biscuit with 2 litres of water, that should be sufficient
for to-and-fro with overnight stay (we had generally carried tent of
our own).

The last time I went there(around 5-6 months back), we were stopped by the police saying- lots of illegal activities(read PDA(??) and gang fights) happen there, and he finally let us there when he didnt see a girl in our group and we convinced them we are not drinking on the hill. And he was shouting that we should be mad on what trekking can be done there, as its a small hill and useless even for a naturist.

@Apurv - And the local police can legally stop you from entering any area, if there is a reasonable  reason for them to do so. It need not be a protected area.

What the comment about whats so great about that hill. Police were
right. It is small. But the closest one for the Bangalore urban
dwellers. What is good there:

You can get a picture of the real night as the skies are without the
pollution of dust and street lights. I had been there mostly on full
moon days and it is really awesome. On a decent warm-cool day, you get
to see amazing clouds below the peak as you stand on the cliff.

But right, for serious trekkers, Kamara Parvat (from Navoor side
without taking jeep) and Kudreimukh are good ones, but need two days
planning. I had been to both the places.

Coming back to Skandagiri, I will not be bored of doing this again :)

So.. Is the plan on?? where would we be meeting if it is and where
would the bikes be when we are trekking? or is it like a trek where
one would take the cycle along pushing?
