Hi Riders!!
After doing the Ooty climb during the 9 days Nilgiris Ride and the wonderful descent through the 36 hairpin bends via Masinagudi, a crazy idea came to my mind to do the Ooty climb via the Masinagudi side and conquer the 36 steep hair-pin bends.
With that in mind, here is my ride plan for the coming weekend.
8th Jan Friday - Take the Late night bus (Volvo) to mysore and reach there next day early morning.
9th Jan Saturday - Start off the ride from Mysore to wards Ooty A KILLING 128 Kms!!!
10th Jan Sunday -
Option 1 - Start early morning Ride to Mettupalyam (A lovely constant downhill of abt 40 kms) via conoor and ride uphill again via Kotagiri to Ooty (abt 50 kms).. A Total of 90 kms. Catch the night bus from Ooty to Bangalore.. Route Map..
Option 2 - Start back to Mysore and catch evening bus from Mysore to bangalore. Route Map...
As of now I am riding alone.. Let me know if more people would like to join up. We can then contribute some funds and organize for support vehicle and hotel reservations.
Feel free to give me a buzz in case of doubt.

Good Morning Riders!!
The final ride plan is to ride from Mysore to Ooty via Masinagudi on saturday, and return the same way on sunday to mysore.
To and Fro from Bangalore to Mysore is by KSRTC Volvo / Regular bus (personal choice).
To make this a completely independent ride, there won't be any support vehicle. Hence all participants will need to carry their own luggage. The best suggestion is to get a rear carrier for the cycle, so as to avoid back pain. Plus, carry the least possible luggage to reduce the burden. Don't forget warm clothing.
Moreover, we are expecting a night ride by the end of first day (saturday near/to Ooty). Lights and Reflectors are compulsory.
Here is a tentative list of riders going for the Ooty climb this weekend.
1. Vivek Sambaiah
2. Rakesh
3. Dipankar
4. Bibhushan
Tentative complete expense for the ride per head is expected to be with 500 to 1000 bucks to and from Bangalore. No need to transfer the money. Carry the amount with you for food, accommodation and transport. The money will be collected at the begining of the ride. Excess amount will be returned back.

i dont want to spoil the party, BUT it might get spoilt either ways...SO
i want to bring to everyone's notice that,the road to ooty from masinagudi direction is firstly a tough climb,and with very little time it becomes almost impossible too....even if you start riding from mysore in wee hours of morning,the road from masinagudi towards ooty is usually closed for normal traffic except ambulances after 6pm evening..reason is due to wild animals' crossing,etc..so suppose even if you guys make it to masinagudi say 5pm,the climb to ooty will definitely take u more than 2 hrs,which is exactly when animals (elepphants) cross....NOT SAFE and INTRUSIVE..!
suggest to halt at masinagudi after reaching late noon/late evening..??

u-turn,fly to masinagudi downhill in a few minutes,very exhilarating mind u..! again its all a faint donwhill towards bandipur and little beyond...aim to reach gundlupet by 330ish pm and pedal with zeal to reach mysore...which is home cos we just sit in the bus and take a short ride home back after that.....
