Sorry to hear yet another cycle theft from Jayanagar belt :(

Seems like the thieves are in full swing and minting quick bucks..

Which lock were you using?

Really sorry to hear this.
It is probably time for folks to routinely keeping your cycles in-doors, unless it's in a location with real solid 24x7 security.
As has been noticed, the cycle theives are not amateurs, and most cycle locks are ineffective in deterring them.

Sorry to hear about another bike theft.
What happened to the discussion about coming up with some action plans to deal with this?
Here is a discussion we had on BZ a while ago - http://www.bikeszone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10367
I still think we need a two pronged approach to bike security.

1. Locks. Better locks to deter thieves - better locks cost more but should be available locally in the near future.
2. Database. A registry to allow us to trace bikes - we can use free services or make our own. At the moment most folks don't even know their bike's serial number. We need to make it habit to record this and also have bike shops check this when a bike comes in for any work.
