Ok Guys, the ride is tomorrow. Here are things you should do today:

1. Add your name to http://groups.google.co.in/group/bangalore-bikers/web/3rd-oct-2010-tfn-gmc-prep-ride-to-muthathi. We are at 57 riders as of now. I am expecting 70 at least because we have a whole bunch of riders who are shy to add their names to list, but show up any way :-)
2. Get your cycle oiled (you can do this yourself) - You don't want to ride a creaky bike tomorrow
3. Check the tyre pressure and inflate it to the recommended tyre pressure
4. Buy a spare tube if you do not have one. A spare tube is THE most important thing to carry, several of us will carry pumps and puncture kits. But if your tube is toast, there is nothing more reassuring than carrying a spare tube in your saddle/frame bag.
5. Keep some money with you food and water. This will ensure that you travel light :-)
6. Go through the web page http://notebook.bumsonthesaddle.com/rides:checklists:day-long-rides for a more exhaustive list.

Hoping to see you all tomorrow with the excitement of riding to the mighty and majestic cauvery river,
Yogesh

Given that if we leave at 6 am with the larger group, we might make it to the river around 11 am and there will be barely enough time to take a sojourn to the river, (especially if riding at a leisurely pace). So in the interests of the people keen on spending some quality time in the water and being able to make the return trip at 12:00, I  propose to start from Merida Jn at around 5:15 if not earlier. Interested people please land up at Merida junction at around 5 am. (or update the list with your phone numbers) We'll still be part of the larger group (Cat 1). If we take fewer breaks and ride reasonably fast( keeping in mind the necessity of keeping energy reserves for  the return trip) we should be able to make  it to the river at around 10 am giving us 1.5 hours in the water and a good 30 minutes of lunch time before we head back. Yogesh and gang would probably start trickling in after 10:30 and the last set of people should come in at around 11:30 or so, so it will be the right time for us to head back at mid-day.

Regards
Chiddu

Chiddu will guide the the "Swim Aficionados" in category 1 who start off at 5:15AM. Please carry your head and tail-lights as sun won't come out until 6am. Also Swimmers, please be very careful. The Cauvery is known to have whirlpools. I will be leaving with the larger group at 6AM.

Here a few more things to remember for tomorrow:
1. There is sparse cell phone signal near Muthathi. There are several areas where there is little or no signal. So, please try to stick with at least one ride buddy once we cross Sathanur.
2. Please please please be weary of time tomorrow. We will Absolutely, Certainly, and Most definitely depart from Muthathi by 12:30. Please try to regroup with the larger group. I do not have a prominent landmark from where we will head back to Bangalore as yet. I will be trying to stay in touch with Chiddu as much as possible.
3. Today was very hot and very sunny. There is a good likelihood that tomorrow will be like today, so please do not forget to carry your sun protection - moisturizer/sun screen and goggles/sun glasses. A full arm jersey may not be a bad idea for those worried about tanning.
4. Due to time constraints, we will be eating breakfast at Kanakapura and not Harohalli. There is a great Darshani restaurant after you cross Kanakapura bus stand right on the main road. Please try not to spend a lot of time eating your breakfast. For those of you heading back from Kanakapura, this will be the part where you will start heading back.

DO NOT FORGET TO CHARGE YOUR CELL PHONE, camera, gps, mp3, etc TONIGHT.

Merida Junction a.k.a Family Mart Junction a.k.a. Sarakki Junction is at the intersection of Outer Ring Road and Kanakapura Road. There is Metro Work going on on Kanakapura Road as you approach from Banashankari Temple. There is an underpass work going on if you approach from Bannerghatta Road side.

Chiddu had earlier sent the google maps co-ordinates.

I have updated the page with the co-ordinates (Look just below the starting point.)
JP Nagar Ring road (15th Cross - JP Nagar) and Kanakapura Raod intersection. It is a fairly prominent intersection
