Hi

There isn't seems to be having Parking facility in forum mall.  Last week I rode my Trek 3700 to Forum to have KFC.  The security guy didnt allowed me inside.  He told me its management decision to not to allow cycles inside.  This is really really discouraging and frustrating.

Where do we park?  How do we go to movie or shopping?  No Malls should be given approval without parking facility for bicycles and should impose rule to provide facility for existing malls else license should be cancelled.

Anybody please suggest me how do I file a complaint.

Thanks,
Dhanasekaran

I make it a point not to visit Forum for this same reason. Civil (Cycle) Disobedience.

Hi,

Best to stop visiting such malls. Also urge friends and relatives to
avoid such malls.

Thanks and Regards,

little ahead from main entrance.
there was some plan to get this on TV9 :-)

Aren't the downtroden who go around in cycles? The lowly, SEC D and E
... aren't TG for the malls anyway.

Perceptions!

Padiki

P.S. A lot of the employees (the sales staff, the security) would sure
come in cycles ... Where do they park? Can't they share a portion of
that place with us?

Shucks. I was banking on the parking facility in Forum for parking my cycle cos I mostly hang around Kmgla.

@dhana sekaran BOTS notebook says parking is allowed in the Sunshine parking area. This is further down the road after Prestige Acropolis. Did you try there or the main building?

Stopping to visit such malls does not highlight the cause of parking facility for cycles cos the management doesn't get to know about our own private disobedience. I think what we need to do is organise rides where we ride to such malls in significant numbers and demand parking. No doubt the support staff there have parking for their cycles. The notion that only the 'captive' cyclists will cycle to a mall has to change. Once they know a part of their target crowd cycles to their mall, they might want to change their policy. Its all about numbers and visibility.

I personally feel boycotting such malls ain't going to help address the issue much.
Infact, most of our friends/relatives will not be convinced about avoiding such malls for the reason that cycle parking is not available.

Even if a few support us, it will be negligible and malls wouldn't care about the minority.
From the experience i have had with interacting with public regd. these issues, the impact is low.

One way i could think of  to get these malls provide parking for cycles is:
- Conduct a rally (sort of cyclothon) suggesting malls to provide parking for cycles
- Have a press coverage of this event
- Try to involve all age groups in this event (kids/students/college grads/elder people)

This will make people think that biking is a cool thing and also make them realize the importance of cycling.
Then we will have the support of public to approach BBMP which would ensure that all the malls in Bangalore have cycle parking

Thanks

To start off with thats a good idea but in the long run, maybe yes, maybe no. It has to be followed with some more sustained effort in this direction but what? How?

About the Cycle Salute, that road is quite narrow for weekend traffic. Wont we be blocking the already choked road if we do that in front of Forum?

I have an easier solution, how about picking up the phone and just speaking with the management? Or better yet, go meet that person or people in person? We can start sending "get well" cards if they refuse :-)

Hi ,

They always say that we are working on it. They want to save up as much
place as possible for 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers.

Thanks and Regards,

On the same lines, why don't we just drop in at Forum (forget the CM) in significant numbers, just as anyone else who has come to hang out there. Will they then say no to a huge number of customers? If the security officer or parking in-charge doesn't let us in, then we go and talk to the higher ups in management. They should be focusing on customers and converting footfalls into sales and NOT what the customer is wearing/riding.

It's almost 4.5 year old story; I went there for a movie on my bike
and was not allowed to park my bike there. I had a big fight with the
security guards and they were almost ready to beat me up at last the
manager intervened and agreed to park it inside; again when I came
back after the movie I couldn't find my bike and after lof ot heated
arguments they brought my bike from some hidden bunker. I did discuss
about this issue with some bikezone members then. I think now the
scene is different and they better respect the Bikers;

The sad part is even forum staff who commute by cycles are not
allowed in; We as a group must do something about this.
Thanks,
Brijesh

What would happen if one of the Cyclothon organizers/sponsors were to call up forum mall and ask for cycle parking? Better yet, what would happen if Vijay Mallya or Ashok Kini or Raghu Dixit were to call up Forum mall head administrator and tell them to add cycle parking? Don't we have someone here on this forum who is part of the cyclothon organizing committee?

Thanks,
Yogesh.

point taken. next CM, we enter Forum for a pit stop. If not anything,
we'll surely get a lot of attention from the Saturday evening crowd.

Also, letz fill up up their Suggestion book with a request for cycle
parking for non-staff.. they have a special parking and charging point
for Reva, so this should not be a problem.
We can even get loads of requests (hand written for max impact) for
cycle entry and parking and hand it over at their customer service
kiosks :)
Infact, we can just visit all the big malls and do the same. What say?
We can get press coverage as well..

Say, should we approach them in advance telling that we are coming for a pit stop after CM for IVC (too damn costly at Transit though) and that we are enquiring if they will have provision  for cyclists to park their cycles. Add the fact that the event will be covered in the media and would be positive publicity blah blah for them. Give them the bait.

Guys, I faced the same problem almost a year back. I parked my bike on
the opposite side and stormed to the help desk on the ground floor and
asked for the complaint book. They gave me the book and asked me what
was the problem. They heard me out and suggested to use the Sunshine
park further down the road. Its free and solves our purpose doesn't it?
I could do the same thing at lido mall at ulsoor. So peace guys!
