Hi

I am looking to buy a good road cycle to bike on the roads of Bangalore, to work and to other places.

Please help me pick out a good cycle that I can buy in a store in Bangalore. I don't want to buy online. And I'm not interested in mountain bikes.

Suggestions, tips on what features I should look out for, brand names, etc.

Thanks
Venkat

As of now, I believe there's a firefox at 23K and another one at about
35K. I don't think I would like to look above the 35K and even that is
stretching it quite a bit.

The problem is, I don't know what features to look for, which ones are
important and cannot be compromised upon in a road cycle. Once I have
an idea of that, I'll be able to have a clearer idea of bikes and
budgets.

Hi Venkat,
You may like to checkout LA Sovereign roadbike. You could get it
for like 20k or so. Try RR cycle mart at ulsoor/madiwala. We saw it
at the indo-thai exhibition at kaanteerva stadium last weekend.

Why not try a Strida? www.strida.com
It's 22K plus VAT, and you get it BlueDarted to your place.

Hello Ashish,
No man i dont want to deal with many brands. Deficult for me too.
And most of the bikes i import from Taiwan or Italy. As u know
Thailand is not papular for Bicycles. ( Only tires , Tubes, Tubulars &
clohing is good in Thailand).
Call me for detail.
MERIDA Road bikes will be in Bangalore by end of this month.
Thanks
Venkat

Ya Venki .. my search continues ..
heard you no more getting K4 & another equivalent model. Is Merida
not manufacturing them anymore ? or are they out of stock ?

I am confused between MTB & roadbike .. want to do MTB himachal,
but dont want to miss on tour de nilgiri thing as well :(. Budget
constraints are always there.

Lets see what i can work out with.

Heheh. You picked up the wrong phone, Venkat.

I'll take this opportunity to be shameless (and be shamelessly "fair
and balanced", heheh) and say that in no particular order,

A. Merida 901-18 is a very neat bike.
B. Trek 1000 (now 1.2) is a very neat bike.

Both these statements are from very thorough personal experience. Ravi
can comment on the 880.

And now to be shameless: I'm not sure why anyone would buy a firefox
bike (for 35k) when the above two options are available for roughly
that price. I think 880 is much cheaper. Especially given all the
sales/support horror stories about firefox outlets. I'm not talking
about you, Rohan :)

Merida 880 is neat bike too, and can be considered value for Money.
I have not seen any flaw with this as yet :-)

The bike is amazing, the frames give u lot of comfort, the seats can be varied wrt handle bar almost 3 inches (gives lot of comfort for ur body frame)

Road bikes(the race bikes, as they are known :)  )  are v costly, starting from 25k, fire fox ; merida road bikes are costing 40k.
