So this is how the ride went yesterday -
Nandi hill ride is my first century ride ever and recently I got a doubt
"Did I walk in between when climbing the hill, last time?" So, I thought
to climb with minimal breaks(if needed) and with-no-walking-when-climbing rule and finally achieved it.
We were ten riders who headed to Nandi hills and had wonderful ride yesterday. Thanks to the Bangalore weather, we experienced the ride on cool weather in morning, the scorching sun in afternoon/evening and the rain in early evening :) Eight of us could reach the hill top and the rest two, being newbies and their first time long ride ever, could reach till the Nandi base - I really appreciate their achievement to ride till the Nandi base.
We took Siva's road and my bike got flat half way towards Devanahalli. Darrell, Eva and I tried to fix it but no use. Finally I took tempo till Devanahalli (missed ride of around 8kms) and took help in fixing flat from other riders who already went ahead. Thanks to Promise, Hrishikesh and others who helped to fix the bike and we were all ready to reach the destination.
The headwinds were not that bad and by the time we reached Nandi base it was already 12:30 pm. After making stomach little happy, we kicked off to Nandi hill top and every rider was on his own. I followed maintain-consistency policy and slowly started riding from the base and finally reached the top. We were all happy about the achievement of the successful climb; we said hello to i-cycle guys who arranged the same ride. Monkeys and dogs welcomed us at the top and an intelligent monkey was staring at the food that we were eating and we offered one banana - we wondered if other monkeys form a queue for food but luckily no :) The other two newbies called when we were on hill top and said they have reached the base then. We started to return from the hill top and the down hill ride was pretty awesome and cool!
We met the rest two riders at the base and we all started to ride back to Bengaluru city, when the clouds accompanied us and started raining heavily. We rode for some distance in rain (it was really a great experience) and halted in a small shop for the rain to stop - we only wished to have hot tea/coffee/snacks in that weather but no luck. Once we hit the airport road, again the sun was scorching and we all got dried (as we were wet) and also equally fried. Few riders wished to take bus/tempo traveler to reach their home from the airport toll gate. We managed to get a tempo traveler, bargained with him and the four riders bid bye then. The rest six of us started riding back to respective homes; Darrell and I rode together till MG road and bid our ways from there.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience and had wonderful ride with all folks who joined the ride yesterday. I thank you all for joining the ride and pleasure to ride with you all. I look forward to see you guys again in some other ride. I encourage you all to put your yesterday's ride experience :)
