Here is a re-cap:
This ride is being pulled together in the spirit of getting everyone initiated with riding up Nandi and looking forward to the TFN (and now GMC). I know this is a matter-of-fact ride for many of us. But then, there are a lot of folks out there wanting to do Nandi for the first time. So, let's all ride to Nandi together and conquer our fear about riding long distances. I request the guys who do Nandi all the time to show up so that the rookies can see that with practice, it is not so hard after all.

Where are going: Top of the Nandi
When are we riding: Sunday, May 30th 2010
Starting points:
1. Cubbon Park Seshadri Library (This is for the people who wish to bicycle to the starting point)
Gathering time: 5:30AM  (Enough time to finish Ayudha Pooja)
Departure time: 6:00AM (Please, let us start on time)
Distance: ~120kms + Distance from home to cubbon park
2. Cafe Coffee Day on Bellary/Airport road (For people riding their car and wishing to park and bike about 90kms)
The cubbon park group/peloton should arrive at around: 7:15AM
Departure time: 7:20AM
Distance: ~90kms
3. Nandi Turn-about slightly past Devanahalli (For people riding their car and wishing to park and bike about 55kms)
The ccd and cubbon park group/peloton will arrive at around: 8:30AM
Departure time: 8:45AM (For a chai+idly)
Distance: ~55kms


Expected return time: Anywhere between 1pm and 4pm depending on capability
Ride type: All Road Endurance Ride - VERY Road bike friendly. Many riders will be on MTBs

Number of riders: Unknown (Please do respond to this email with a +1 so that we can get a count)
Number of support cars: Unknown (I am hoping we won't need one for this ride)
Guidelines for the ride:

• Travel light, carry hydration (water/eletrol), spare tube(s), basic repair kit, mobile, and most importantly, carry money

• Try to attend one of the several camps conducted by Decathlon, BOTS, Track&Trail, and other LBS to learn how to change tubes and fix punctures. This is an invaluable skill that will take good care of you.

Hello Baeuar, There are several folks coming from the Whitefield area. I am still looking for someone to send a common meeting point in Whitefield where folks can get together and ride. Are you aware of an easy to find land-mark in whitefield where everyone can assemble and ride together? I am yet to hear back from the "Whitefield Riders" group.

Ravi and Everyone,

There is plenty of parking available at Nandi-Turn-Around. Enough to accommodate a LOT of cars. You basically go past the Jain Temple and make a left turn where you will see a board that says "Nandi - 26 kms". Park anywhere on the shoulder (i.e. space off of the road). There are several large trees, you may want to park underneath one of those.
