Freewheel locked up in both directions

Hi All,

I am facing a strange situation with my Trek 3700. The rear freewheel has suddenly locked up and I am not able to figure out why. I had used the bike without any issues till last Sunday and it was lying unused through the week. Today when I unlocked it for washing/lubing I found that the freewheel is completely locked up. 

I am able to ride the bike but unable to coast or pedal backwards. Don't know what happened in a span of 6 days! Has anyone faced such an issue before? Is there something I can try before I take it to the LBS?

-          Release the freewheel from chain and try rotating

-          If it is still stuck, the internal assembly of the freewheel must be broken. (There is a spring assemble inside the freewheel).
